The younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting baby number two

PEOPLE announced on December 14, 2020, that the younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, Pippa Middleton, 37, is pregnant with her second child. Daily Mail reported that she was spotted out for the first time since the announcement as she strolled through London with her firstborn, two-year-old Arthur.

Pippa, who is an English socialite, author, and columnist, was seen on a walk on a west London street holding hands with her little Arthur, who is a first cousin of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The royal children are third, fourth, and fifth in line for the British throne respectively.

The Daily Mail described Pippa as looking to be in “good spirits” during the stroll. She wore a cream-colored turtleneck jumper with black skinny jeans and a navy pea coat over which she accessorized with a silver metallic cross-body bag, a pair of shades, and navy blue sneakers. Arthur was also in a navy coat. Pippa, whose real first name is ‘Philippa’, was also seen holding what looks to be a Christmas cookie box.

According to the magazine, a source told Page Six that Pippa, and her husband James Matthews, 45, former professional racing driver and current hedge fund manager, are “thrilled,” by the news.

“Pippa and James are thrilled, it’s fantastic news amid a difficult year. The entire family is delighted,” the source told PEOPLE.

One more playmate for the little Cambridges

According to the Daily Mail, both Pippa and James have declined to give comment on the reports.

The couple, who have been married since 2017, had their first child, Arthur, in October 2018. Pippa gave birth to him at the same location where her sister and brother-in-law, Prince William, had all three of their children delivered, the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, as per PEOPLE.

Their nephew and niece, Prince George, seven, and Princess Charlotte, five, served in Pippa’s bridal party when Pippa and James got married at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield back in May 2017.

Like baby, like mama

Pippa never seems to fail to flaunt her incredible signature svelte and toned figure when her pictures are taken especially during royal events. Her attendance at many royal events suggest that she shares a good relationship with the British royals, despite not being a royal herself. One such notable event where she was spotted was at Princess Beatrice and her now-husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s engagement party back in December 2019.

While Pippa was pregnant with Arthur, she documented how she stayed active on a fitness column for Waitrose Weekend. In an article released in September 2019, she wrote: “Now that Arthur is 11 months old and more mobile, I have been trying to come up with different activities to do with him.

“I needed to find something more than just park walks in the pram. Our local baby gym has been a saving grace. It’s a big space full of fun, soft objects, playmats, stairs, balls, swings, mini trampolines and more to stimulate and physically engage babies and toddlers," added the new mom.

She added that the classes are not just enjoyable for her baby, but they help Arthur develop his motor skills, balance, and strength.

“Arthur burns lots of energy in this safe environment and learns many physical skills,” she continued in the column. “I have also noticed him building his confidence with each visit.”

How Pippa almost stole her sister’s spotlight on her big day

Pippa first caught the attention of the public during William and Kate’s wedding, where she served as her older sister’s maid of honor. She had heads turning as her best features were perfectly accentuated when she helped adjust Kate’s train. Ever since the wedding fans of the royal family have been curious about Pippa and have started to keep up with her private life as well.

After they tied the knot, a source told PEOPLE in December 2016 that Pippa and James had their eyes set on settling down and “having children and leading a quiet life.”

Privately extravagant

It seems as though the couple has a quiet and very comfortable life. Just one day before the reports about her pregnancy, the Daily Mail reported that the couple is set to buy a plot of land in Berkshire spanning 72 acres for £1.5million (approximately US$2,027,000). The tabloid says they could potentially make millions by turning the place into a tourist attraction, and calls it “property deal of the year.”

James, who is a hedge fund billionaire, is no stranger to property investments and running a tourist attraction. His family owns Eden Rock Resort St Barths, located in Baie de St-Jean, Saint Barthélemy in the Caribbean; a getaway that has been enjoyed by megastars including Elton John, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Suites at the resort can go up to £25,000 (approximately US$33,770) a night. According to US Weekly, it was at Eden Rock where James and Pippa first crossed paths in 2007.

The Daily Mail also reported that James and Pippa are thought to have their sights set on a home near the Berkshire land in Bucklebury. The home is a walking distance away from the home Pippa grew up in with her sister and their younger brother 38-year-old James Middleton, an entrepreneur. James and his fiancee Frenchwoman Alizee Thevenet were due to get married this year but due to the ongoing pandemic have decided to postpone the ceremony.

The parents of Kate, Pippa, and James, Carole Middleton, 65, and Michael Middleton, 71, still reside in Bucklebury Manor, a seven-bedroom house valued at £4.7 million (approximately US$ 6,350,000).
