Keanu Reeves Established To Be Working With Marvel To Put Him In The Universe

It has been a big year for actor Keanu Reeves after starring in the latest “John Wick” movie and generally becoming the internet’s favorite person for his random acts of kindness.

There is one more thing the 54-year-old actor must do to be relevant in Hollywood these days, and that is to star in a Marvel movie. Thankfully, movie producers are clamoring after him to do so.

The Marvel superhero movies have featured many A-list actors from all stages of their career, including reviving that of Robert Downey Jr. in “Iron Man”, and jumpstarting Tom Holland’s in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” Everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow to Chris Hemsworth to Scarlett Johansson has been in a Marvel movie—and that was just part of the cast of one of them: “Avengers: Endgame.”

Brandon Davis spoke with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for Comicbook.com, and he revealed that they want to add Keanu Reeves to that illustrious list as well.

Keanu is such a perfect action star, proven by his John Wick and Matrix work, so finding the perfect superhero role for him shouldn't be rushed. Feige said that they “very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

Feige said they had waited with another actor in the past—Jake Gyllenhaal—who was in talks with the studio until the perfect role for him came along: Mysterio. Gyllenhaal will play the enigmatic character in the upcoming film “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” and is seen in the trailer.

Comicbook.com reporter Brandon Davis also asked about Donnie Yen and Millie Bobby Brown’s possible appearances in upcoming Marvel movies. To which Feige responded that there was nothing solid planned for them yet.

As for Keanu, fans have been sounding off on social media to which Marvel character he should be playing. Some have said Namor, an underwater hero much like Aquaman. Others have name-dropped a super-villain in the “Fantastic Four” comic books: Doctor Doom.

But maybe it should be up to Keanu himself, who back in May told Buzzfeed that he always wanted to play Wolverine (he said so while playing with a bunch of puppies, which is an interview worth watching).
