Single Father Wears Dress And Wig To Delight Adopted Daughter At Her School's Mother's Day Celebration

It is safe to say that for every child, the importance of parents showing up can not be overemphasized, especially on special event days in school. Be it baseball games, recitals, school plays, or international day celebrations, parents who show up for their kids make it even more enjoyable.

However, what could be done on a day like Mother’s Day, where all kids have their mom present, but one kid does not enjoy the same because circumstances deny them that? This was the case of a teenage girl, Nong Cream, from Thailand. However, the story does not end sordid because her dad proved to be an exceptional man. 

A single father, Joe Lookphonbodee, tugged on many hearts in a delightful clip on social media in August 2023, where he stepped up for his beloved adopted daughter, Cream. The video has since received positive comments on the act of love.

Mother's Day is a special day to appreciate mothers' indispensable roles in their children's lives. It's a day of celebration and gratitude. Mothers are an amazing set of people and should be appreciated at every point in time.

According to Upworthy, Mother's Day is celebrated differently in Thailand than in America and other parts of the world. The special day falls on August 12th rather than the second Sunday in May. In Thailand, people usually have the day off from work while schools hold a special Mother's Day ceremony for students. 

During the ceremony, students kneel before their mothers to give them jasmine flowers and express their love, respect, and affection. The amazing event is usually a special day for both the students and their mothers.

Lookphonbondee took the international day a notch higher due to his act of love toward his daughter, which broke the Internet. For the Mother's Day celebration in Thailand, the single dad donned a dress and a wig, appearing as a woman. Lookphonbondee went for Mother's Day activities at Ban Noen Kroi School, where he also works as a teacher in Kamphaeng Phet province.

A clip of the single father was shared on TikTok where he surprised his daughter dressed like that. The video was posted with the caption:

"Mom, I can be you, haha."

In the clip, as soon as Cream saw her father, who was dressed as a woman, she leaped into his arms and hugged him tight with a big smile on her face. The father told Bangkok Biz News the reason he decided to show up like that:

"When the school organizes Mother's Day activities I don't want my child to have an inferiority complex. ... Personally, I'm not ashamed because I love my child. And we do fun activities together as usual. Most importantly, I don't want my children to feel that Mother's Day each year, why doesn't a mother come to the event like everyone else? So decided to join the activity."

Media users could not help but be filled with emotions after watching the act of love, and some of them expressed their feelings. One user wrote, "I finally see there's such thing called loving father 🥰😭." Another person commented, "My tears hmmm proud of you Best Dad to this kid". A third user said, "Power of Love🥰🥰🥰".

It's inspiring to see all of the dads out there who may not recognized but are still doing the best they can to take care of their children.
