Trigger Warning: This article contains mentions of sexual assault that may be troubling for some readers.

Kevin Spacey is an American actor whose career has spanned decades. The Hollywood star has received a lot of accolades for his impressive roles in movies. Some of his well-known appearances include the TV show "House Of Cards," as well as the films "Lost in Yonkers," "The Usual Suspects," and many more.

The Oscar-winning actor has gone through some unfortunate situations in his life in the spotlight. On Oct. 4, 2023, Spacey revealed details about a major health scare related to heart failure. The health scare happened in Uzbekistan during the 15th Tashkent International Film Festival.

This came months after his sexual assault trial ended, which led to a not-guilty resolution. For years, Spacey faced allegations of sexual abuse that significantly impacted his career.

The award-winning actor stood trial at Southwark Crown Court for sexual abuse offenses against four men that allegedly took place between 2001 and 2013. The sex offenses were said to have been perpetrated while he was serving at London's historic Old Vic theater as an artistic director.

The accusation was first made by Anthony Rapp in the U.S. in 2017 and was published by Buzzfeed. During his trial, the "Baby Driver" actor told jurors that as a response to Rapp's accusation, he released a statement where he came out as homosexual. However, this was not welcomed by the LGBTQ+ community because he came out while responding to a sexual accusation, leading many to suggest he was deflecting.

Rapp filed a lawsuit where he accused Spacey of making an unwanted sexual advance towards him in 1986 when he was only 14, but he lost the case. Spacey shared that since Rapp lost the case, "maybe people will read that statement with a little bit more understanding now."

Aside from Rapp's accusation, another complainant accused the "Nine Lives" actor of sexual assault that allegedly happened in the early 2000s on 12 occasions within four years. Spacey described this complainant as "funny, and charming and flirtatious." He included that he was also "a big flirt" when asked. The "Se7en" actor shared that over time, his relationship with the complainant "became somewhat sexual." However, Spacey denied having done anything non-consensual. He shared:

"It didn't happen in a violent, aggressive, painful way. It was gentle and it was touching and it was, in my mind, romantic."

Spacey also denied the allegations of sexually assaulting a man who accused him of being subjected to several sexualized remarks and painfully being grabbed on his crotch during a charity event in London. The Oscar-winning actor further refuted the allegations of another complainant who accused Spacey of being intimate with him in the late 2000s while he was passed out in the star's London apartment.

The fourth complainant claimed the actor gave him an "awkward" hug, kissed his neck and grabbed his crotch after going with friends to Spacey's place near Oxford in central England. Spacey denied that he sexually assaulted the man but accepted he made "a clumsy pass" at him. After his trial in July, Spacey explained in tears how he "lost everything in a matter of days." He shared:

"Before the first question was asked or answered, I lost my job, I lost my reputation, I lost everything, in a matter of days."

Following the strings of accusations, Spacey was dropped from a lot of projects and stripped of an international Emmy Award. The actor was also edited out of "All The Money In The World" and his character in "House Of Cards" was killed off.

After Spacey was cleared of all the sexual assault charges, he made an appearance at the 15th Tashkent International Film Festival, which ran from Sept. 29 to Oct. 3, 2023. While there he hosted a masterclass for aspiring filmmakers. During the festival, the actor became unstable while touring the Afrasiyab Museum. He told The Sun that he felt his "entire left arm go numb for about eight seconds."

Spacey feared it was a heart attack and was taken to the Innova Diagnostic Clinic for some tests and an MRI scan. Fortunately, the doctors proved everything was okay with him, and he had "no problem with his heart." Spacey later returned on stage that night to inform the audience that he was doing well. When he reappeared on stage at the festival, he announced:

"It made me really take a moment and think about how fragile life is – for all of us." He also added that after spending the afternoon doing scans and tests, "Everything turned out to be completely normal, and I'm grateful it's not anything more serious."

A day before the heart failure scare, Spacey had announced his comeback, saying his "best roles were ahead of him." In September 2023, Spacey's friend, Geoffrey Mark, said the actor was "going to rebuild his career, and in doing so, my opinion is he's going to go in a direction we hadn't considered before."

He returned to the big screen with his roles in "The Man Who Drew God," "Peter Five Eight'' and " Once Upon a Time in Croatia." Spacey hoped to make an impressive and creative comeback, as described by Mark.
