Some of us love the winter life with snowflakes filling the winter air but then there are others who can't wait for summer and even dread hearing the word winter. Most animals seem to thrive in the winter where the air makes them a bit frisky.

In the winter of 2017, the Oregon Zoo had some very happy creatures. The snow definitely didn't stop them from having a great day. They enjoyed the snow just as much as most children do.

In the month of January in 2017 there was a substantial snowfall in the Oregon zoo located in Portland. A foot of snow had fallen to the ground. Most of the city sat still as the streets were too snow filled to go about their normal business. This caused a lot of businesses to close down for the next few days, including the Oregon Zoo.

Although the zoo didn't have any visitors during this time, it was definitely not a boring place to be. The animals enjoyed their playtime in the snow day in and day out. They didn't have anyone interrupting their play. They were able to have their own type of snow day without people intruding on their time.

Nora, the polar bear, had a blast in the aftermath of the snowstorm. She couldn't help but run around and play.

And, it wasn't just Nora that got in on the action. The sea lions had their own fun in the snow covered from head to toe. They loved letting the snow fall onto their soaked bellies.

One of the zookeepers wanted to check on the animals but he wasn't able to drive to the zoo due to the road conditions. He ended up skiing down into the zoo! Upon his arrival, he knew the animals were just fine as he heard them playing excitedly from a distance.
