The very idea of being kidnapped is enough to give anyone chills. When faced with such a dangerous scenario, how would you get out of it? For one woman, she got through this frightening experience by putting her wits to use.

The 25-year-old from Indiana got in touch with Travis Moore, an old acquaintance who she met up with in Mississippi. They spent time living in various hotels around Bloomington. However, things eventually came to blows between her and Moore.

Unable to get back into the hotel, the woman headed out. Moore pursued her and ordered her other companion out of the car at gunpoint.

Then, he demanded that she bring him to an apartment.

Though she was fearful, she knew she had the upper hand. Since Moore wasn't from the area, it meant that he wouldn't know his way around town. She used this to her advantage and didn't give any inkling they were headed anywhere but to an apartment.

Passing by a nearby police precinct, she made the crucial decision to make a U-turn, and inform law enforcement about what exactly was going on.

They caught up with Moore, who was already wanted for charges of firearm possession and got him into custody.

This story can remind us how to use our minds to get out of stressful situations.

There's no doubt that adrenaline was pumping through this woman's veins, but she didn't let fear get the best of her.

She worked her mind to the best of her abilities and got herself to safety.
