We’ve all been guilty of wondering what it would be like to be a superstar at some point in our lives. Whether it’s singing in the shower or in the car or even pretending to put on a full performance in the confines of our bedrooms, pretending to live and act like a pop star can be absolutely thrilling. For one young girl, that dream seems to quickly be becoming a reality.
A young girl by the name of Stacey Ryan has been taking the internet by storm with a gorgeous rendition of a popular song that showcased her sweet voice. The girl’s vocals, which sound like pure honey, have captivated plenty of people all over the world with their rich yet soothing quality as she performed her own version of “Dancing Queen” by ABBA.
The song has been a sensational hit since the late 1970s with its infectious melody and empowering lyrics. While the original version of “Dancing Queen” is filled with top-notch vocals and harmonies, a different, more subtle version of the song was performed in an intimate performance by the up-and-coming singer.
The young girl has been releasing covers of some of her favorite songs to platforms like Spotify, TikTok and YouTube as early as 2018. While she has sung plenty of well-known songs over the years, Ryan has put her own spin on them by completely changing the genre to fit her desired taste. “Dancing Queen” by ABBA was released as a single in the United Kingdom and Europe in August 1976, instantly becoming a worldwide sensation. After its release in the rest of world, it became a No. 1 hit in the United States, topping the charts in many other countries, such as Australia, Canada, Ireland, Spain and Sweden.
The genre of the song is classified as Europop, a style of pop music that originated in Europe during the 1960s and continued to develop throughout the 1970s. The genre became extremely popular during the 1980s and the 1990s, with groups such as the Backstreet Boys, the Spice Girls and Ace of Base showcasing the unique sound in some of their songs.
While disco music was dominating the music charts in the United States, ABBA showed off their own style with the infusion of Europop in “Dancing Queen.” The song did extremely well commercially, and critics couldn’t get enough of the catchy song. “Dancing Queen” was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015.
ABBA was a Swedish pop group that consisted of members Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. In 1974, they became the first group from Sweden to win the Eurovision Song Contest. Group members Andersson and Ulvaeus, along with Stig Anderson, wrote their hit song “Dancing Queen,” while Andersson and Ulvaeus also produced it.
While “Dancing Queen” is a popular song and has been covered by singers many times, Ryan showed off her own interpretation of the Europop hit in a video uploaded to YouTube in May 2021.

Rather than performing it in its usual genre, Ryan decided to shake it up and made “Dancing Queen” a folk song. With a small setup in her dimly lit room, the young girl strums her guitar delicately while singing into a microphone. The moment she opens her mouth, it is apparent just how much talent this young woman possesses in her small body.
Her vocals are soft and soothing as she passionately sings out the well-known lyrics. Ryan shows off her strong range and the unique tone of her voice with each and every word that comes out of her mouth. Singing with her eyes closed, the young girl becomes completely immersed in the melody of the song. As the song progresses, Ryan continues to showcase her beautiful vocal abilities and her sugary vocal tone.
As the performance comes to an end, Ryan softly belts out some of the final lyrics while still holding onto the subtleness of the new version of the song. The way she carried herself throughout the number is completely effortless — despite the impressive range and tone she showcases throughout the performance.
This is not the only time Ryan has taken a hit song and made it her own, as she also has a cover of “Bust Your Windows” by Jazmine Sullivan up on iTunes for fans to buy and also on Spotify for anyone to have a listen to. The rising star also has her own Linktree, which contains all the links to her other social media accounts, where people can listen to even more impressive covers she’s done over the years.
