During the course of her life, Queen Elizabeth II had many glamorous moments. After all, she was the reigning monarch for seven decades. With a professional full of elegance and grace, it’s safe to say that the queen had many moments that many people would have loved to have been in her place.

The queen was an extraordinary woman who achieved quite a lot during the 96 years of her life. Of those years, she was the queen of the United Kingdom and 15 Commonwealth realms for over 70 years, which was an incredible feat. Furthermore, her lengthy reign earned her a score of titles, including the second longest-reigning monarch in human history. She took the spot in June 2022 after making it to her 70th year as queen earlier in the year.

The queen’s life has continued to fascinate people, including her early life before she ever took over the throne, despite the fact that she wasn't always destined to become the ruling monarch. And while the queen showed that she was more than capable of holding such a powerful, regal and elegant position, she also showed off her wonderful personality and cheeky mannerisms over the years.

She had several encounters with the public over the course of her life. Some were very respectable while others were downright hilarious. However, there were a few instances where the Queen’s Guard may have gone a step too far in protecting Her Majesty and following their duties. This was the case back in 2018 when a young girl named Maisie met the queen.

The Queen’s Guard, also known as the King’s Guard, is a collection of infantry and cavalry soldiers who are stationed in front of royal residences in the UK. Their main priority is to protect the reigning monarch and the sovereign's residences.

A controversial video of the late Queen Elizabeth’s Queen’s Guard has continued making the rounds online. The clip showed two members of the Queen’s Guard knocking over a boy while marching at the Tower of London.

One of the guards shouted, “Make way!” before charging into the child, who fell onto his back. Nevertheless, they continued to march.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence spoke about the incident in an interview with the Daily Mail. “The Guardsmen on duty warned members of the public that a patrol was approaching but the child unfortunately ran out in front of the soldier unexpectedly. The soldier tried to step over the child and continued on his duty,” the spokesperson said.

They added, “Following the incident, the soldier checked on the child and was reassured that all was well.”

Viewers have had mixed responses to the video. Although some people noted that the Royal Guard isn’t a tourist attraction, others criticized the soldiers’ seemingly callous behavior toward the young boy.

This isn’t the first controversial incident that has involved a member of the Queen’s Guard. In 2018, a tourist stepped over a rope barrier at Windsor Castle, standing directly in front of a soldier’s path. The member of the guard — tasked with walking in a straight line — pushed the woman out of the way and continued to march.

And in 2018, a Royal Guard had a different encounter – this time with a young girl.

Sweet, then-6-year-old Maisie Gregory got more than she bargained for when she met the queen back in 2018. Maisie was selected with the honor of presenting flowers to the queen after her visit. This is a time-honored tradition that Maisie executed flawlessly. But after the queen turned to leave the building, things took a turn for the unexpected.

Trying to fulfill his duties as a Queen's Guard, one of the guards made the motion for an enthusiastic salute to the Queen. And little Maisie got smacked in the face with a gloved hand. The beautiful hat that she was wearing went flying from the smack.

You could audibly hear Maisie say "ow" in the video of the event. At first in the video, it seemed as if the Queen's Guard was unaware or unbothered by the fact that he had struck a young child in the head. The queen didn’t notice the guard's mistake and kept walking toward her car.

But, according to reports by Wales Online, once the queen was out of the frame the guard bent down to apologize to Maisie. The Guard also apologized enthusiastically to Maisie's mother, Joanne Gregory, the wife of Regimental Sergeant Major Mertin Gregory.

Maisie was unharmed from the incident. The only effect on Maisie was sleep loss from her excitement to meet the queen. Sweet Maisie was up and ready to go at 4:45 am that morning. She wanted to be dressed perfectly in her traditional Welsh clothing. Although the meeting did not go completely as planned, Maisie certainly represented her country well.
