Eighteen-year-old Jaxon Willard left an audience in tears after his touching performance on the reality competition show "World of Dance." His inspiration? His loving adoptive mother.

Even without knowing the story behind it, the dance itself is incredible. This young dancer practically suspends himself in the air. He seems to effortlessly defy gravity and bend his body in ways most of us could never hope to do at all. It's a beautiful piece.

But then there is the clincher.

This young man walks to the edge of the stage to embrace his beloved mother, a woman who adopted him. Then the judges ask him the meaning of the performance.

He explains that the dark and angry beginning expresses how he felt about his birth mother. The coming-into-the-light ending expresses the decision he made to let that go, because he doesn't know the full story, and to just be grateful for the wonderful family that raised him.

This did not come easily or quickly to him. First, he spent years repressing his strong feelings about his birth mother. He feared that expressing them would hurt his adoptive mother.

But he eventually realized they needed to somehow come out. This was not healthy.

So he found something physical and tangible to vent his feelings: The art of dance. He then decided to express it in full on stage for all the world to see while his adoptive mother watched in person at the edge of the stage.

His performance brought tears to many eyes, including his own. The judges give him a moment to compose himself so he can finish answering their questions. Then he goes on to tell the powerful story behind his performance.
