Young Boy Opens Lemonade Stand After Father Dies Of Cancer So He Can Take Mom On Date

After the death of his father, a 6-year-old boy named Brady Campbell had a job to do: Open the lemonade stand that he and his dad had made preparations for. Brady's father, Brandon, died at age 37 after a six-month battle with stage 4 colon cancer.

Although Brady and his dad never got to realize their dream together, the little boy decided to carry out their plan himself and prepared to open his stand the day after his father passed away.

Brady told his mother, Amanda, that he wanted to earn enough money to take her on a date the way his father always had. "I think he kind of came up with it himself," she told CNN of her son's sweet idea.

Brady explained in an interview that he always wanted to take his mom out, but he didn't have enough money. He and his dad talked it over and came up with the idea to run a lemonade stand. Brady's father had been a businessman, and it's clear that he has passed on his ambition to his son.

A Denver police officer heard about Brady's lemonade stand and decided to invite other first responders to support the little boy. Police officers, firefighters and plenty of friends and family turned up to buy Brady's lemonade.

"You could just feel the warmth and energy and such a positive thing in such a tragic time for us," Amanda Campbell said, according to FOX31 Denver.

At the end of a busy day, her son had earned $244, which was more than enough to take his mom out on a special date.

Amanda said that her son's resilience has helped her get through this difficult time. After his father's death, Brady still looked on the bright side. He told his mom he was just glad that his father was free of pain and didn't have cancer anymore.

Brady is now preparing to enter first grade in the fall and planning the ultimate date night for him and his mom. We wish them both happiness and healing.
