Young Boy Is Swarmed By Litter Of Cuddling Puppies

Puppies are one of the few joys in life that bring universal happiness. No matter how tough someone is on the exterior, playing with a puppy will bring a smile to their face. This is because puppies are filled with love and excitement, and it becomes contagious to everyone that comes in contact with them. In a viral video from August 2019, a young boy was swarmed by an adorable litter of puppies while he laid on the ground happily.

At the beginning of the video, the boy, who is blond with a white t-shirt on, is on the ground surrounded by what looks like around ten golden retriever puppies. The puppies still have their eyes closed, as all dogs are born blind and deaf. The sweet little things were crawling all over the boy, and he giggled happily.

The puppies seem as if they are looking around for food to eat, and that is why they are swarming the boy. At this young of an age, puppies mostly just eat and sleep, but as they get older, they will get more energetic, and soon they will be impossible to contain. Puppies also have baby teeth like humans. When they are around four months old, puppies lose their first set of teeth, and then they are replaced with adult teeth.

Also like humans, a dog's hair can change color as they get older. It depends on the breed, but as puppies grow, their fur can begin to change and take on new colors or textures. Dalmations, for example, don't get their trademark spots until they are two or three weeks old.

Everyone knows puppies are adorable, but they are also pretty interesting as well. Just like humans, puppies can be born as identical twins. In 2016, the first recorded case of genetically identical twin puppies came from South Africa, and the babies were delivered via cesarean section by veterinarian Kurt de Cramer. The operation took place at Rant en Dal Animal Hospital in Mogale City.

De Cramer was already operating on the Irish wolfhound because she showed distress and prolonged abdominal straining when it was time to give birth. The vet told the BBC, "When I realised that the puppies were of the same gender and that they had very similar markings, I also immediately suspected that they might be identical twins having originated from the splitting of an embryo."

After de Cramer suspected the puppies might be twins, he ran genetic tests on the entire litter to be sure. The results confirmed that the twins were genetically identical. "There have been rumours about twins in dogs before," says Carolynne Joone of James Cook University in Townsville, Australia, who was part of the team working on the case. "We just happened to be lucky enough to be able to confirm it genetically."

This fantastic story has a happy ending. All of the puppies in the litter grew up to be healthy and happy dogs, including the twins. Dogs bring so much love into our lives for the limited time we have with them. Hopefully, the litter swarming the little boy from the video will also grow up to have long and joyful lives.
