A photo posted to a social media page devoted to natural-relationship forming techniques with babie and children is being praised all over the world because of the message that it sends about the positive effects of skin-on-skin contact for newborn infants.

The page is called NINO Birth, NINO stands for Neuroscience for Improved Neonatal Outcomes. The organization is a big proponent of skin-to-skin contact for babies. The page posted the viral photo which shows a dad and his young son both engaging in the skin-on-skin contact with a new set of twin baby boys.

NINO advocates that putting your newborn infant on your bare chest right after birth immediately puts the baby at ease and makes them feel safe. NINO also pointed to a Swedish professor who says that skin to skin contact helps regulate the temperature of the baby even better than an incubator. The contact also helps the baby to breathe better and put on weight at a faster rate.

Not only are there physical benefits, but the skin-on-skin contact also helps to encourage the bonding process. For this family, it is just an added bonus that the big brother also got to experience a close connection.

The touching image was taken at the Hvidovre Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark. The sweet photo has already garnered a significant amount of attention. One poster pointed out that this skin-on-skin contact was a perfect way to get the big brother involved so that he did not feel left out.
