You're About To Be Seeing A Lot More Of These Trendy, Alternative Jack-O-Lanterns

Oct 06, 2018 by apost team

A staple of the Halloween season is the Jack-o'-Lantern. You can create any design that you want on the surface of a pumpkin. Some people carve them while other people just decorate the orange balls with stems. If you don't have a pumpkin handy, there are a few other things that you can use to celebrate Halloween.

The Jack-o'-Lantern is undergoing a makeover. It's a trend that is often seen on the internet and that is spreading across the country.

Instead of a pumpkin, some people are using pineapples to make a Jack-o'-Lantern.

The concept is the same, and you can still put a candle inside the pineapple after it's carved. It sometimes smells better as well instead of smelling pumpkin seeds for a few days or even a few weeks after a pumpkin is carved.

Viewers have made their opinions known on Instagram and other social media sites about using a pineapple instead of a pumpkin. Many people enjoy the idea and have offered their own variations.

The pineapple is often used in Florida and Hawaii as a stand-in for the pumpkin since the weather is warmer, which can cause some issues with growing pumpkins in the fall.

When you get a pineapple, you'll cut the top half off so that you can get to the inside of the fruit. Once the top is removed, you can begin getting all of the fruit out of the inside so that you have a hollow shell to work with, similar to a pumpkin. After it's hollowed out, you can carve any design in the pineapple.

There are people who don't think that the idea of a pumpkin should be removed from Halloween while others enjoy having other options to work with when it comes to making a fun Halloween decoration. Those who carve either a pumpkin or pineapple have also made comments about what to use inside the item that is carved.

Most people enjoy using a candle so that they can continue with a Halloween tradition while others like using a lightbulb so that it doesn't burn the inside of the pumpkin or the pineapple.

Followers of the pineapple trend have also made comments about the various pumpkin spice flavors that seem to be everywhere in the fall. Some want to see different flavors and wouldn't object to pineapple instead of pumpkin flavors all the time.

If you enjoy new trends and trying new things for holidays, then a carved pineapple might be right up your alley as you can accomplish a few interesting designs.

When you begin to get the fruit from the pineapple, a corer works best. It can reach all the way to the bottom of the fruit and remove the inside all at once. A marker can be used to draw a face on the pineapple.

Since the outside is bumpy, it can be difficult to achieve some of the more intricate designs that are done on pumpkins unless you spend a little time with the fruit.
