You Need To Try The Delicious 'Inside Out Caramel Apples' Recipe This Fall

Oct 15, 2018 by apost team

You probably have heart-warming memories of buying a caramel apple at the Fall Fair or at a festival. I re-lived those memories by trying to make caramel apples at home. And all I can recall is...what a sticky mess!

The pot and stove are sticky. Sticky children running around everywhere and getting everything in their path sticky. Frustration sets in and I promise to never do this again. I urge you to not give up on this traditional and delicious treat. If something does not work one way, then turn it inside out.

Preparation Is Key

There is a much easier and unique way to make caramel apples that focuses on keeping the caramel inside of the apple. I see that this is already cutting down on the monstrous stickiness by containing it. Just knowing this puts you and me at ease.

Now, let’s continue with the prep. I like to have the utensils and materials in one place before I get started. Don’t you just hate it when you are following a recipe and have to stop what you are doing to find a particular item.

You need the following items:

  • A small saucepan
  • A whisk
  • A spoon
  • A chopping knife
  • An apple corer
  • A brush that is food safe
  • Paper towels

Isn’t being organized wonderful? I feel the stress just melting away.

Let’s Follow The Recipe

If your home is like mine, excitement is building at this time. Kids have radar and know exactly when you are making something festive. I hear them coming now. Fortunately, there is a step in the directions that is perfect for excited hands.

This recipe only makes four servings and uses just a few ingredients. You can always adjust the ingredients and make more servings.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of caramels
  • 2 apples
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tbsp water
  • 2 granola bars, crumbled

Directions:

1. Stir the caramels and water until melted in the pot over medium heat, whisking constantly.
2. Any extra hands can crumble the granola bars while waiting for the caramels to melt.
3. Cut the apples in half. Hollow out the stem and core. Leave only 1/4 inch of apple flesh.
4. Brush the insides of your apples with lemon juice to prevent browning. Let them rest for 2 minutes. Then, use the paper towels and pat the insides of the apples dry.
5. Carefully, spoon in the melted caramel into each apple.
6. Sprinkle with granola crumbs.

After successfully completing this. I am absolutely overwhelmed with the simplicity and deliciousness of this fall treat. My plan is to make a larger batch for an upcoming family event.

What do you think about this recipe? Your opinions are welcome. This is not something that I can keep to myself. I absolutely must tell my friends.
