The young man only had his GoPro with him when he decided to climb the pyramid. Egypt is extremely strict about antiquities and tourist attractions, so climbing the pyramids is completely against the law. Luckily for Andrej, no one noticed the first few minutes of his climb.

Andrej walked around the pyramid complex for several minutes to find the perfect spot for his ascent. More importantly, he needed to avoid tourists and police officers at the start of his climb. Once he was high enough up, he would be able to avoid them completely.

Finally, Andrej found the right spot and began to climb. The total climb spanned 146 meters. Until he was about halfway up, none of the tourists or Egyptian police noticed what he was doing. When the police saw his ascent, they tried to stop him. Since they were stuck on the ground, they could not do much to prevent this brave man from continuing his climb.

Andrej Gets Arrested

Within a few minutes, Andrej was at the top of the pyramid. He spent a few moments enjoying the incredible view before starting his descent. It took him 20 minutes to reach the bottom of the pyramid again.

At the bottom, the police were waiting for the young man. He was arrested and taken into police custody. If he had been charged with climbing the pyramids, Andrej could have spent three years in Egyptian prison.

Thankfully, the police had a better deal for the man. They told Andrej could leave the station if he deleted any photos from his climb. Andrej quickly agreed and deleted the files. He never bothered to mention that he knew how to recover the files later.

You can see the entire climb in the video. Andrej also posted an amazing picture from the climb on his Instagram page. The Pyramid of Giza has stood for 4,500 years, but it has never been the site of such an amazing event before. It is safe to say that Andrej is one of the only people in history to ever see the pyramid from this vantage point.
