Parents are some of the most protective types of people in the entire universe. The saying "don't mess with mama bear and papa bear" has truth in it. There are various ways to poke a mama bear, but one of the worst ways is for someone she doesn't know to touch her baby.

It's understandable. Babies are cute. Sometimes you just want to pinch their cute chubby cheeks or poke their teeny toes. This can be disturbing to some parents for multiple reasons. The main reason is transferring germs to the baby and potentially causing illness in the infant.

Now there is even a sign that has been made saying "Stop! No touching! Your germs are too big for me". A UK company named Tags 4 Tots created variations of the sign.

Many parents appreciate the signs due to how many people try to touch their babies. However, there is some criticism towards the idea. People believe the signs will seem hostile towards friends and family members.

Understanding a newborn's immunity is important in this debate. While the newborn is in the mother's womb, they have the exact same immunity she does. Once the baby is born the immunity wears off in the next few weeks and months. This leaves the infant susceptible to illnesses.

Researchers say that exposing a baby to illnesses could infect the baby and cause great harm. One father lost his newborn baby to a common virus. He warns other parents to protect their child from this danger.

Other studies conducted say it's good to expose children to potential diseases early on. It will help them build up a tolerance or immunity to it. This can help prevent illnesses such as hayfever and inflammatory bowel movement.

Deciding whether or not to keep people away from your baby is a personal choice that will differ from parent to parent. Understanding both sides of the situation can help make a decision that is right for the family.
