World's Largest Christmas Nativity Impresses Everyone With Performance By 1000 People

With the excessive commercialization of Christmas, a lot of people are feeling a bit like the Grinch. If you are so there, perhaps it is time to revisit the actual meaning of Christmas for a few minutes.

In some cultures, this is about generosity. For Christians, it is about the birth of Christ. Even you aren't religious, the music that celebrates these events can be a welcome relief from the Christmas shopping season that seems to be starting earlier and earlier every year. Soon, we will be putting up decorations right after Independence Day and advertising the start of the Christmas shopping season, as if some folks aren't already sick enough of this trend.

This video, featuring Peter Hollens, David Achuleta and the Piano Guys, is a real treat. The song is called "Angels From The Realms Of Glory." If the title doesn't ring a bell, rest assured you have probably heard it. Some people best remember it for the simple and beautiful refrain of "Gloria" that dominates much of the song. The video begins with the camera panning around the group of musicians. The setting is a lovely large room. The backdrop is an incredible oversized fireplace.

The first thing we see is a man playing piano. It is soon followed by a close up of a simple and elegant gold ornament depicting the nativity. The video slowly takes us through a seeming home production, with ordinary people dressing up for staging a nativity scene. The authentic costumes are beautifully done. A real baby plays baby Jesus. Close ups of the baby are particularly touching.

As the scene slowly develops and gets more fleshed out, the famed Mormon Tabernacle Choir eventually joins in. In their long white robes, they form a stunning backdrop for the nativity scene in the foreground. All told, more than a thousand people participated in the filming of this special video.

It is a lovely rendition of an already uplifting song, popular for its wonderfully inspiring melody. The closing of the video comes full circle. In a unique manner, it returns to some of the same themes and imagery at the start of the video. But, no spoilers here! You will just have to check it out yourself if you want to know how they end it.

Is that one of the most feel good moments you have had this holiday season? Do you know a few other people who could stand to get a break from feeling like the Grinch and get more in touch with the real meaning of Christmas? Go ahead and forward this to them now!
