World Applauds Professor After He Takes Student's Baby And Holds Her For Whole Class

When it comes to attending college, it’s every parent’s fear. Having to choose between one’s child and class can be a never-ending battle and most professors are unforgiving regardless of the student’s excuse.
Yet when Nathan Alexander, a professor at Morehouse College in Atlanta, was told by Wayne Hayer that he could not attend office hours due to his parental duties, the man made an offer Hayer could not refuse.
He told the young man if he was forced to choose between class and his daughter, Hayer should simply bring his daughter along. And that’s exactly what Hayer did!
Being a responsible father can be difficult at the best of times, but when the babysitter cancels on a school night, it can be a devastating experience.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hayer could not find a sitter for Alexander’s class so he packed up the diaper bag, his book bag, and strapped his daughter to his chest in an infant carrier. Hoping the professor’s offer was serious, the young man went to class with his child in tow.

When Hayer arrived, Alexander proved himself a man of his word. In fact he offered to hold the youngster so Hayer could have an easier time taking notes during class. Alexander told CBS that this is not the first time he has encouraged students to bring their children into the classroom.
Hayer told The Washington Post that this professor believes it is important to disperse the myth that African American men, in particular, are bad fathers and Hayer sets a good example with his devotion to his child. Both college and parenthood come with their own unique set of challenges.
One of the students posted about the ordeal on Facebook with a photo and wrote:
'As one of my peers walked into the classroom with his child in arms he quickly explained to my professor that he couldn’t find a babysitter and had nobody else that could watch her.
My professor, Nathan Alexzander, said, “No problem, in fact, I will even hold her so you can take better notes in class.”'
Often the two experiences don’t seem to go hand-in-hand. Professors like Alexander prove that parents can attend college and excel if given support by their teachers.
