Woody Harrelson and his wife, Laura Louie, rarely make a public appearance together, which made their recent night out all the more special.

The longtime couple stepped onto the red carpet together on Sept. 17, 2026, for the Los Angeles premiere of Harrelson’s new Apple TV comedy “Brothers,” marking a rare public date night nearly three decades after their relationship first began. Harrelson, 65, and Louie, 61, have been together for more than 30 years and married since 2008.

Although Harrelson is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable actors, Louie has largely remained away from the spotlight. Their low-key approach to their relationship makes their decades together feel particularly remarkable in an industry where celebrity romances are often played out in public.

The couple first met in 1987, when Louie began working as Harrelson’s personal assistant while he was starring on “Cheers.” Their relationship remained professional at first, but three years later, Harrelson realized his feelings for her had changed.

In a 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harrelson recalled writing Louie a song to tell her how he felt. The lyrics were a fairly direct declaration of his growing affection, but her response surprised him.

Louie told him she had actually been in love with him for the previous two and a half years.

Harrelson admitted that his first reaction was one of playful insecurity.

“What about the other six months?!” he recalled thinking.

But whatever doubts he had quickly disappeared. The two began a romantic relationship and eventually built a family together.

Harrelson and Louie welcomed their first daughter, Deni, in 1993, followed by Zoe and Makani. Harrelson and Louie ultimately married in Hawaii in 2008. Today, their three daughters are adults, with Deni being 32, Zoe, 30, and Makani, 20.

And despite spending decades together, Harrelson has remained openly appreciative of the woman who has been beside him throughout his career.

During that same 2017 Hollywood Reporter interview, he described Louie in glowing terms, saying he had “the most amazing wife” he could imagine.

That devotion has existed largely away from cameras. Louie has maintained a much lower profile than her famous husband, while Harrelson has continued to build an eclectic career spanning everything from comedy and drama to blockbuster franchises.

Their latest public appearance offered a rare glimpse of the couple together as they supported Harrelson’s newest project.

“Brothers” reunites Harrelson with his longtime friend Matthew McConaughey, with the two playing fictionalized versions of themselves. The comedy draws on their famously close friendship — and the long-running joke that they might actually be half-brothers.

But while McConaughey and Harrelson’s friendship is getting plenty of attention surrounding the new series, Harrelson’s appearance with Louie quietly highlighted another relationship that has lasted just as long.

For a couple who have spent more than 30 years together largely outside the glare of Hollywood, their rare red-carpet appearance was less about making a statement and more about simply showing up for each other.

And after all these years, that may be the sweetest part of their love story.
