Woman's Garage Door Puts On Quite A Show As She Commands It Down

Cleveland-area artist Amanda Destro Pierson, 40, has been turning her garage into a monster that opens and closes its tooth-filled maw as if it's about to eat trick-or-treaters for Halloween since 2016.
Move over Jessie James! You are no longer the only one with a monster garage.
Just before you think you've seen it all when it comes to Halloween decorations — the costumes, the spooky, the creepy, and the downright scary — you might just want to reconsider. Every once in a while something comes along that is so unique that it is worth pausing to take a good look. But a warning is warranted. It looks like it could be a pretty nasty bite.
Have you ever seen a garage door dressed up as a monster? Well, neighbors of Amanda Destro Pierson and curiosity seekers in Parma, Ohio have. With her own designs of two eyes and a ferocious set of teeth, she decorates her garage door so that it looks like an angry monster. Even more unique is the effect that it has when the door lifts up and closes. It appears that the monster is taking a bite of something that probably wouldn't survive if it were in his mouth. Her first "monster house" started in 2016.

This is all in fun, but it is sure to get some double takes on Halloween. In an interview with TODAY, it so happens that Halloween is one of Amanda's favorite holidays, even more so than Christmas. She invests a lot of time and energy getting ready to give the little gremlins a very spooky experience when they knock on her door for tricks or treats.
She was inspired by a monster garage she saw on Pinterest, as TODAY reports. She began to develop a picture of what she wanted her garage to look like, and pulled out the pencils and began to draw. She drew the finished product onto foam, got some buckets of paint, a brush, and got busy making her monster dreams a reality.
She used duct tape to secure the foam teeth to the garage. The eyes were creatively hung using fishing rod lines and siding hooks. The rest, shall it be said, is Halloween history.
Amanda knows a thing or two about painting unique and beautiful designs. She is a professional graphic designer and face painter. Her distinctive garage was posted on social media and quickly went viral.
At last count, she had more than 33 million views and the national media came a calling. She has taken her newfound fame in stride and is amused by it. However, all this attention has inspired others to be artistic with their garage doors. After all, it's a blank canvas waiting for something creative to help it stand out from the crowd.
Last year, she made her garage up into Pennywise, the clown from the movie It. In the video description, she said: "Our latest Halloween Monster House... an ode to Pennywise and all the creepy clowns going bump in the night." And in 2017, she took the reptile route, turning her garage into a scary snake. We wonder what it's going to be this year!
