Woman Who Went Gray 'Overnight' At Age 21 Says She Feels Sexier Than Ever In Her 40s Now That She Has Stopped Trying To Dye Her Locks And Embraced A Natural Silver Look

One woman who let her gray hair show says that she feels sexier than she ever has. She began going gray at the young age of 21 and decided to embrace it at 43. She no longer dyes her hair and decided to wear it silver.

Sara Eiseman, who is from Arizona, told the Daily Mail that her hair went gray 'overnight'.

"My hair turned almost entirely silver, literally overnight, at the age of 21. I went to the mirror one day to find that silver hair was emerging from the roots all over my head."

That was the beginning of an obsession Eisenman would have for years to come

"It was seen by me as a startling marker of aging at a time when I was supposed to be in the height of youth," she said.

"To disguise this evidence I took to coloring my hair very aggressively every two weeks, with a slew of other products - powders, hair crayons, etc. - to disguise the roots in between dying."

Her insecurity with her hair color was so severe, she claims she even dyed her hours just hours before going into labor when giving birth to her son, out of fear of people seeing her in that state when they would come to visit.

That all changed, however, with the arrival of her second child.

"It was seen by me as a startling marker of aging at a time when I was supposed to be in the height of youth," she said. "At 37, after more than 15 years of coloring every two weeks, I could no longer remain a slave to the box of dye - other considerations were simply too important."

Before making the decision, she confided in her friends. The advice they gave her was not what she had expected to hear. They told her that she would look aged and witch-like. But, regardless of their advice, Eiseman took the plunge and hasn’t looked back.

"Yet I knew very steadfastly in my heart that these stereotypes would prove completely incorrect, and I never touched a bottle of dye again," she explained. "I also used this as an opportunity for a radical total self-rebirth, which manifested in myriad ways. First, I started wearing the clothing I always wanted to wear, in new color palates, playing with new makeup shades, using all manner of scarfs, headbands and messy up-dos to dance with the line of demarcation between old and new 'me'."

Eiseman admits that since she quit dying her hair, she now feels sexier than she ever has. She states “Embracing this is what it means to be truly ageless”. Without the hassle of coloring her hair, she now feels liberated.

"In embracing my silver hair, I feel more alive, more beautiful and sexier than ever in my mid-40s."
