A woman in Pennsylvania finally has a reason to smile again. Brittany Negler, 29, is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has sadly faced many hardships during her life. When she was a teenager, her brother sadly passed away from cancer, leaving her completely distraught and an emotional wreck. She turned to substances to help numb her pain, but they only led to more trouble later on in her life.

After realizing she had a problem, Negler sought out professional help and worked on her recovery. She is currently clean and even a mother to a sweet, little girl. However, she has continued to be met with challenge after challenge as she has had to work immensely on rebuilding her confidence and self-esteem following a horrific appointment at her dentist’s office.

Negler knew she needed help with fixing her missing and rotting teeth, but her dental appointment was far from helpful. Instead of finding a way to fix her teeth that had been ruined by her past drug use, Negler’s dentist opted to just pull every single tooth out, leaving her completely unable to eat.

The malpractice negatively impacted Negler’s life, as she was left to deal with the aftermath of having no teeth. Her weight quickly decreased and her smile had faded, and it seemed like all hope was lost for the heartbroken woman. Thankfully, Negler finally reached out and got the help she needed in March 2021 from a cosmetic dentist in Texas, who gave her a makeover that forever changed her life for the better.

The Daily Mail reported that after turning to drugs, Negler’s teeth needed some help, but her dentist was unwilling to fix them. Instead, he pulled out all of her teeth, leaving her unable to eat food. Dropping down to just 79 pounds, Negler was on the verge of getting a feeding tube, when she finally reached out to a cosmetic dentist by the name of Dr. Kenny Wistead.

While visiting Wilstead at his office in Garland, Texas, Negler said, “I’m so excited to be here. I just want to eat again.” She then bravely opened up about her traumatic life story. After her brother died from cancer at the age of 18, Negler was left heartbroken and turned to substances to help ease her pain. She even admitted that she thought she had been the reason behind his death, as she believed she had accidentally laid on his breathing tube, resulting in him passing away. Afterward, there were issues within her family.

“I went to a dark place, I’m not going to lie,” Negler said. She also revealed that she “got really depressed.” Finally, she found the courage to work on herself and went to rehab, and even got closure on what happened with her brother after reconnecting with her family as they had assured her his death was not her fault.

Wanting to feel better about her appearance, Negler visited a dentist in Philadelphia to help fix her missing and rotting teeth, but the appointment didn’t go as planned, as per the Daily Mail. “They literally pulled all your teeth and did dentures because of some minor (issues),” Wilstead said in disbelief after Negler visited his office in Texas.

Negler said her records revealed that they could’ve been fixed with a root canal, but her previous dentist never told her that. Even though her previous dentist gave her dentures, they were too large for her mouth, making it almost impossible for her to close her mouth or eat. On top of that, they caused Negler an extreme amount of pain. Negler had tried to gain back some weight by drinking bottles of Ensure, but it didn’t seem to help.

“I won’t leave the house because it’s embarrassing,” Negler said. “My face is sinking in.” Completely heartbroken, Negler admitted, “My 2-year-old is scared. And that’s my best friend.” Thankfully, Negler finally reached out to Wilstead for help, to which he happily obliged.

The Daily Mail reported that it took a series of appointments to get Negler fitted for a pair of removable dentures. After the dentist’s hard work was complete, Negler finally had a reason to smile again, and was blown away by how stunning her new smile was. The woman instantly burst into tears and gave Wilstead a hug after seeing her bright and beautiful new smile. The dentist and his wife even took Negler out for dinner afterward to make sure that the dentures were comfortable while she ate, as per the Daily Mail.

Negler explained that makeovers like hers typically cost anywhere from $9,000 to $60,000, and her total expenses came to about $30,000. Thankfully, financing was offered to cover the expenses, allowing Negler to sit back and enjoy her new smile as she embraced the next chapter of her life.
