Engagement is a thrilling moment for any couple. IT is especially romantic for a woman that has always dreamed of walking the aisle in a white dress one day. It is less serious than a wedding and people are more relaxed into it although it is the door to the true marriage.

What happens when your fiance is not true in his proposal? This is what happened to one lady who got engaged but later found out that her ring was not diamond. When she confronted her fiance with it, he did not pay any attention to her.

In a letter written by the angry woman written to seek advice from Natalie Bencivenga, the unknown bride-to-be shared that she was totally shocked when a jeweler told her that the stone on her ring was cubic zirconium instead of a diamond. She felt totally embarrassed at that moment.

"I  wouldn’t want to start a life with someone who is so willing to lie to me to make things easier on himself. What else could he be lying to you about?" She wrote.

When the angry girlfriend confronted him, the man explained that he got the ring for practical purposes as it was no different than a real diamond while a real ring would cost him a fortune for nothing.

Her boyfriend proceeded to tell her that the ring looks totally real and that her girlfriends will never notice a difference. The woman was angry not because of the ring but because he was not honest with her. She was thinking of calling off the whole engagement altogether.

The advice that Bencivenga gave her is that a fake ring for an engagement is not the best of signs when starting a life together with someone. While people may side with the boyfriend and call the woman materialistic, the symbolism of the ring is a whole other thing and should not be underrated.

The ring is a symbol of communion with the other. The knowledge of having a fake ring may make you believe that the relationship is a fraudulent one. The problem is not with the ring being made of cubic zirconium -- the fault comes with the boyfriend presenting it as a diamond ring.

It was kind of deceptive to lead her to believe that the ring was a diamond. It was not a good idea to start a life together with someone who wants to use a lie to make things easier. It could turn out into something else in the future.

Other people do not agree with this stance. One woman shared that her engagement ring was a CZ as well. She and her husband always planned to upgrade it, but never got to the point. Despite the less expensive ring, the woman shared that her marriage was great and very much real.

Another person asked for clarification whether he really said that it was diamond or she just assumed it was so. They told the woman that no one cares about what kind of ring she has. For all she knew, her friends could have CZ rings themselves.

Some people found the whole advice wrong. They completely disagreed with the ring actually symbolizing anything. According to them, any ring would symbolize commitment as long as the person truly had it in them. To them, the advice was for someone who was really high-maintenance.

Some agreed that the lie of the fiance was not a good start. Although the wedding rings are overrated, the man should have told her that it was fake and should not have shrugged her off when she confronted him. To them, the way he acted with the ring was an example of how he will handle other situations in the future of their mutual life.

Another person agreed with this. they advised the women to reconsider her commitment to him. She should tell her future husband that the situation with the ring was something that she has concerns about. The way he reacts to his situation should be able to tell her more about him and make her reconsider their relationship.

According to some, he did it on purpose. He insured the ring so she would find out eventually that it was not real and be embarrassed about it. A lie is always a lie and having someone like that in your life is worth reconsidering.
