Woman Turned Down By Shelter Dumps 11 Pets In The Middle Of A Road And Drives Away

No matter how much we try to educate our fellow humans about the importance of showing kindness to defenseless animals, it seems like there are constantly new stories emerging every day about terrible people inflicting pain and suffering on a creature who just wanted to be loved.

At the C.A.R.E (Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort) animal shelter in Ruskin, Florida, euthanizing unwanted pets is off the table. This is to say that C.A.R.E is a no-kill shelter, which means pets are never put down whether they get adopted or not.

While this is a beautiful and compassionate mission, it means that the shelter will frequently find itself at capacity and unable to take in additional cats and dogs. While the shelter does all it can to help as many pets as possible, they only have so much space on their premises.

One afternoon, as reported by ABC Action News, a woman drove onto their premises without any advanced notice, with a whopping 10 cats and a dog shoved into her PT Cruiser. C.A.R.E was at capacity and unable to take in one additional animal, let alone 11 of them.

The woman apparently decided that she didn't feel up to making any additional effort to give these animals a chance at a good home. Instead, she decided to dump them on the side of the road and drive off in the sweltering Florida heat.

When authorities arrived, the animals they found were lost, hungry and in need of a good meal and some loving care. This woman might've thought she had gotten away with her crime, but she was fortunately caught in the act thanks to a nearby surveillance camera. The authorities are now working diligently to locate her and have assured the local community that she will be charged with animal cruelty and neglect.

Sadly, many shelter workers are reporting that the trend of simply abandoning unwanted animals is on the rise. But even if one shelter is at capacity, there are always other shelters and government animal welfare agencies who can help. You never have to leave an animal to fend for itself in the wild. Show this story to as many people as possible to spread this important message to the world.
