Nothing can take away the pain that comes with losing a child. But one Utah woman is doing her part to help parents in their time of grief.
Pat Carter is a seamstress who is using her skills and talent to turn wedding gowns into precious "angel gowns" for babies who have passed away. Most of the gowns are donated from Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. Carter than takes the beautiful lace and silk materials and repurposes them into tiny dresses fit for a newborn.
“I make a gown maybe every day, or every two days,” Carter told KUTV.

Carter aims to make one to two gowns per day. She is committed to using every piece of dress that she can so that nothing goes to waste. To date, she has already donated over 600 gowns to local Utah hospitals. In addition to sewing these intricate gowns, Carter also includes a special handwritten note for the parents.
“I just can’t imagine anything so sad,” she said to KUTV.
Although the majority of gown materials are donated, Carter relies on her own personal money for shipping costs. Recently, the Mountain America Credit Union donated $500 to Carter and her efforts as part of their Pay it Forward program.
