Hayden Howard was having a normal night until she brought her dog in one Saturday. Jackson is her dog that is a bull mastiff breed. Once they were inside, she noticed that Jackson was covered in what she thought was bug bites.

After looking a little closer, she determined it was actually bullet holes. She called the vet as soon as she noticed.

Howard remembers being in shock and didn’t know what to think about the incident. She truly didn’t understand why someone would do something like that.

The next morning Howard took Jackson to the vet.

The findings were unbelievable. There were almost 30 BB’s and pellets that were removed from Jackson and there were still over 20 remaining bullets that couldn’t be removed. Aside from the ones inside Jackson’s body, there were also many marks on his body that indicated pellets had bounced off and not entered into his body. The vet determined that Jackson was hit approximately 70 times.

Police used the BB’s and other evidence they found from the yard to determine where the culprit was. The findings led them to a nearby neighbor’s home. This information allowed the police to obtain a warrant.

Some evidence was found inside the neighbor’s home that connected them to this awful incident.

Not only was evidence found of this crime but they also unveiled drugs and drug paraphernalia. This included methamphetamine and marijuana.

They received charges for the drug possession but unfortunately no charges were made in the animal cruelty case because there just wasn’t enough evidence. At this time, there are scheduled follow up interviews and investigations. This is in hopes to find more evidence that’ll lead to the prosecution of the person that shot Jackson.

Howard has high hopes that whoever did this to Jackson is caught and punished to the fullest they can be. She feels that as an animal lover you never want to see any animal hurt or especially see someone be cruel to them. She feels that there needs to be more punishment done to individuals who hurt animals.

Howard happily reports that Jackson will make a full recovery. He is at home resting and taking his medicine accordingly.

Seymore Police Department has set a $500 reward for information that will lead to the findings of who shot Jackson. Without someone confessing or obtaining more information, this case may grow cold and never be solved.
