Woman Texts Wrong Number And Accidentally Finds Mr. Right And Marries Him: ‘Meant To Be Together’

An Ohio woman found Mr. Right after sending a text message to the wrong number in 2009 and she truly believed that the mistake was an act of fate from a higher being.

Brenda Rivera Stearns, originally from Georgia, texted some 10 of her friends with a Bible verse but typed the wrong number for one of the recipients. Isaiah Stearns, who lived 800 miles away from her, was surprised to receive the message because he had just gotten his new phone number some 30 minutes before the text came through.

Brenda actually delayed sending the Bible verse until much later that morning. If she had sent it earlier, before Isaiah even got his new phone, then their meeting would not have taken place. Thus, she firmly believed they were “meant to be together,” as she revealed on TikTok.

The Ohio woman, who works as a content creator, shared her love story on the video-sharing platform on Jan. 27, 2023, as she and Isaiah are looking forward to celebrating their 13th year of marriage. The video has since received more than two million views because people were drawn to the Stearns couple’s adorable tale, which seemed straight out of a romantic comedy.

Brenda thought that she was texting her sister’s friend, who also happened to be a neighbor of their mother, but Isaiah replied back and said they have never met at all and explained he actually had issues activating the new number.

Her followers could not help but get emotional at this “meet-cute” encounter, where couples end up together under unusual and often amusing circumstances, just like in the movies.

After that mistaken text message, Brenda and Isaiah continued to send messages to each other as friends. Soon, their chats turned into phone calls. The first phone call made Brenda feel that Isaiah was an authentic and genuine person but she did not want to romanticize what was happening between them.

She wasn’t even up to meeting Isaiah in person so her mother, Rossy, offered to have dinner with him instead since she lived near him. The first thing her mother told her after that meeting with Isaiah was, “You’re going to marry this guy.”

“It took me by surprise, this was so out of character for my mum to say something like this. I knew he must really be something special,” Brenda said.

Yet Brenda was careful about opening up her heart and had thought about the possibility that he may be lying to her. Eventually, she had to let fate take over because she felt that God was “orchestrating every step of our relationship.” The one thing Isaiah loved about her was her love for God.

After going out on a few dates, Brenda and Isaiah were engaged within four months. She then moved to Ohio to be with her life partner.

June 2023 marks their 13th year together and after six children, Brenda said that people need to hear about their special love story to inspire people to never give up on finding love.

“We balance each other out so well and I’m just so proud of the life we’re leading together and everything we’ve created - our six children,” Brenda said of her marriage to Isaiah.

“I should start texting random numbers to find my soul mate,” a commenter on Brenda’s TikTok video said while others marveled at how much God truly works in mysterious ways.
