A Taiwanese woman's nightmare experience just gave us another reason to be paranoid about insects! She was going about her day, cleaning up one of her deceased relatives' grave sites when suddenly, her eye started to hurt badly.

If she was like anyone else, she may just have assumed that a speck of dust was irritating her eye, or she was having some kind of allergic reaction. When the problem got worse, however, both the woman and her doctors were in for a real shock!

Doctors couldn't believe it when they examined the woman, known only by her last name. At first, they assumed Ms. He's discomfort and swelling were due to keratitis and cellulitis. Upon closer examination, the physicians discovered four tiny sweat bees! The bees were actually making themselves at home on the inside of the woman's eyelid! Her tear ducts were providing them with quite a feast since sweat bees have a craving for salt.

"I saw something that looked like insect legs, so I pulled them out under a microscope slowly, and one at a time without damaging their bodies,” the doctor explained in a press conference, according to Business Insider.

As they questioned her about where she could have encountered the bees in the first place, the doctors began to piece together a likely scenario. Ms. He was getting rid of some weeds that were growing around her relative's gravestone.

At that time, she felt something strange in her eye but assumed that it was just some sand or a piece of dirt. She had used water to try and flush out the dirt but it was to no avail.

The physicians from Fooyin University Hospital say that Ms. He was extremely fortunate not to have rubbed her eye during the ordeal. If she had done so, she may have caused major cornea damage or even gone blind!

After removing the sweat bees from her eyelid the patient could finally get some relief. It's a good thing she didn't know what was causing her discomfort earlier or she may have started to panic! Amazingly, all the bees survived the removal process.

The doctor then used a microscope to carefully pull the insects out one by one.

As far as different species of bees go, sweat bees are among the least aggressive to humans. Normally they just see our sweat as an extra food source, and they'll ingest it if they get a chance.

The story has a happy ending for Ms. He. She is doing much better and is expected to fully recover from her unusual experience.

Next time she cleans out her relative's grave the doctors have cautioned her to put on a pair of goggles. After all that she's been through, chances seem pretty good that she'll take their advice!
