In Cocoa, Florida, a woman has been busted for putting her dog inside of her car’s hot trunk and it was all caught on video.

Sara Perry was arrested and is being charged with animal abuse. It was reported by the Daily Mail that the 27-year old woman was identified after the Sheriff’s Office in Brevard County located a video of the incident.

The video of Perry shows her pushing items around inside of the trunk and shoving the dog, whose name is Neptune, into the trunk after grabbing its collar. Perry then slams the trunk shut and continues on as though nothing has happened.

Although it’s hard for most people to imagine harming an animal, it’s something that happens daily. Despite the loyal and loving nature of many pets, some are abused and mistreated by their owners.

It’s been reported that police officers arrived on the scene quickly. They handcuffed Perry and took her to the police station. The police department has made it known that Brevard County will not tolerate animal cruelty. They issued a press release indicating that anyone caught harming an animal will go to jail and be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The video of the incident was provided along with the statement.

Unfortunately, Neptune was severely malnourished and emaciated. The condition of the dog was so poor, that there was a loss of muscle mass. The veterinarian reported that he could see the dog’s pelvic bones and rib cage, which makes the situation all the more horrific. Images of Neptune support the vet’s findings.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey spoke about the incident, including how the dog’s condition demonstrates that Perry has no compassion for animals and should not be allowed to own a pet.

Perry had originally tried to surrender Neptune to Brevard County’s Humane Society. Since the shelter was fully occupied, she asked them to put the dog down. The request was denied because her reason for wanting to do so was insufficient. She was given information about additional resources, but clearly didn’t use the information provided. Facing charges of animal cruelty, Perry has been released on bond.
