Everyone knows kids can be difficult. However, this woman wasn’t expecting several kids to hit her service dog while she was in the store!

Laura Joos has a best friend in her service dog, Polly. Polly helps Laura with her difficult disease and communicates with her when she might lose consciousness. The hardworking dog obviously loves her job and her owner. She goes with Laura everywhere.

Polly also has a sash that clearly marks her as a service dog. However, when Laura and her faithful companion accidentally stumbled on a family, they should a lack of compassion that was astonishingly concerning.

The family didn’t seem to care if the dog was a service dog or just a pet. Instead, they treated the animal with violence while the mom looked on, seemingly unconcerned with her children’s reaction.

Laura Speaks Out

Laura recognized that this behavior was simply not acceptable. She took to social media to shame the family for their obnoxious and uncaring behavior.

Laura posted an Instagram message dedicated to the mother while simultaneously shaming her for her children’s behavior and her lack of action.

The message revealed that Laura understood the difficulties of motherhood. With three kids in tow, Laura realized that it is difficult to manage the kids.

Laura could hear the family approaching when the children started shouting about a dog and they began to walk faster and faster towards the lovely animal.

Laura Couldn’t Avoid the Encounter

Laura realized she wouldn’t be able to escape the obnoxious children. There were people behind her and shelves on both sides. Laura and Polly were surrounded. They had no choice but to pass the family.

She felt a sense of dread as she walked by. Laura knew that the children would try to pet the dog, even though it is common knowledge not to pet the dog without the owner’s consent.

Laura also realized that the mother wasn’t concerned with teaching her children proper manners around service dogs. She clearly had no intention of telling her children to refrain from petting the service dog.

The daughter reached out and smacked poor Polly as she walked by. Luckily, Polly is a highly-trained working dog. Another dog might have reacted more violently to being hit.

Laura Stands Up for Her Dog

Laura wasn’t just going to let this inappropriate behavior slide. Instead, she told the mother that she needed to teach her kids not to pet the service dogs.

She understands that it can be difficult with children, but that is no excuse for the children to misbehave and treat animals poorly.
