Woman Rescues Neglected Chained Up Dog—The Dog Grabs Her Hand To Show Thanks

There's something special about shelter dogs. Maybe it's the struggles they've been through, but when you adopt a rescue dog, there's just something in their eyes that lets you know how grateful they are to finally have a home.

This special dog, in particular, demonstrates the telltale gratitude after it was finally rescued in 2018. The new owner couldn't believe what her dog did when she got it in the car for the first time.

There are lots of things to consider when you adopt a dog: personality, energy level, grooming requirements, and training difficulty to name a few. However, most people who have adopted will tell you that when you walk through the concrete halls of an animal shelter and lock eyes with a certain pooch, you'll just know.

One woman felt that exact pull when she first laid eyes on an adorable white-and-brown-speckled dog. The woman learned that the dog came from a tough background, so she wasn't expecting it to warm up straight away.

However, it didn't take long for the dog to recognize the love of its new family. As soon as they got in the car to go home, the dog extended its paw to thank its new owner in the sweetest way. As this video shows, we should think of animals as creatures with feelings, with a deep understanding of other people's emotions. Just like a human would, this dog seemed to feel and know that he wouldn't have to live on the streets anymore—and he wanted to show his thanks.
