What would you do for a few extra social media followers? Some people know that sharing certain types of photos or memes can boost followers, while others try their hand at special talents like singing or dancing to attract a niche crowd. Sometimes, people do take things too far, such as adding every person they meet hoping to gain more followers, but no one can beat this woman from Miami, who snuck into a high school and posed as a student for more Instagram followers.

This is certainly one of the most bizarre ways to have your social media pages boosted! Audrey Nicole Francisquini was arrested after authorities said she posed as a high school student and sneaked into a Miami-Dade County school to promote her Instagram page according to NBC News. She was charged with burglary, educational institution interference, and resisting an officer after she entered American Senior High School in Hialeah, which is around 11 miles northwest of Miami.

She even got far enough to actually enter the high school by blending into the crowd and entering. She was apprehended by security once but was able to talk her way through it. She entered the school with a skateboard, and once she got into the school, she handed out flyers touting her Instagram page, according to the arrest report.

She fled when she was apprehended again, but because she had already handed out the fliers, the police were able to know who she was and find her. She essentially led the police to her thanks to her antics.

Francisquini was able to enter the high school without any suspicion at first. “She was carrying a skateboard, a painting, (and she) dressed similar to students to try and blend in,” a prosecutor said during Francisquini’s court appearance according to Global News. During the prosecution, Francisquini reported nodded along to every allegation as it was read out during the court trial, and was told by the public defender, "Ma’am, stop doing that."

Insider reported that the case seemed to baffle the judge, who said "It says it here, she’s trying to get people to follow her on Instagram," adding, "First of all, I don’t know how you get in the school. They have a guard at the front; you have to show your ID."

The report stated that Francisquini disguised herself to blend into the crowd and was even able to get past security at the school when she tried this risky move. According to the arrest report, Francisquini initially told security that she was looking for the registrar’s office, but she ended up skipping past the office and went to a classroom instead.

Security guards also said that the woman blocked the entrance to the classroom and began handing out flyers with her Instagram handle on them. During the time, she also recorded several videos, according to the arrest report.

When she did this, security tried to confront the woman but then she walked away and refused to stop when told, police said according to Global News. Security then reported her as a "potential threat on campus," police said. One student also said that Francisquini was “creepy” and wore a “devil mask.”

This infamous mask can also be seen in many posts on what is now Francisquini's private Instagram account. Many other posts on her account quote or reference the Joker. Authorities used her flyers to track her down and later arrested her at her home in North Miami Beach.

PEOPLE reported that court records have shown that Francisquini has already been released from jail and it's currently unclear if she has entered a plea at this time. There have also been no statements from Francisquini or her lawyers at the moment. When she appeared in court, Francisquini pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A spokesperson for Miami-Dade County Public Schools said in a statement to NBC News, "This is an unfortunate incident involving a female who trespassed on school grounds under false pretenses. The individual, who posed as a student needing assistance, was approached by school personnel who recognized that she did not belong on campus. Miami-Dade Schools Police made contact with the individual and, subsequently, arrested her for her actions."

Only time will tell what will happen with the case, but for now, this is certainly one of the more bizarre stories related to social media. It isn't clear what Francisquini was thinking with her actions and whether she thought twice before doing something so strange and risky, but it is clear that she was looking for extreme approval with a larger number of followers.

Grazia Daily reported that social media has fostered an environment and psychology where everyone is looking to curate the best version of themselves, which can only work if there are enough people seeing it. This may be one of the reasons that Francisquini took such extreme measures to get followers.
