You can call it magic, fate, angels, or just luck. There are some things that happen in life that just simply can’t explain. There are certain times when you just happen to be in the right place when something happens that absolutely knocks the wind out of your chest. For one woman, a moment that brought incredible meaning to her life happened in your average thrift store.

Shannon Hiramoto loves to shop the aisles of her local Salvation Army in Hawaii to search for treasures, especially clothing.

She has a very unique style and often finds vintage clothing at thrift stores that are exactly the type of outfits she was looking for, but would never find in a modern store.

As a native of Hawaii, she loves to wear the loose-fitting muumuus that are a traditional style of dress that Hawaiian women have worn for generations.

She was shopping at the Salvation Army when she came upon a gorgeous floral muumuu that seemed absolutely perfect. After paying and heading home, she immediately wanted to try on her new dress.

She just happened to notice there was some old writing on the tag and upon closer inspection, she couldn’t believe what she saw.

She almost lost her breath when she realized what the writing said.

As she peered at the tag, she felt like the universe was showing her the spiritual version of having a royal flush in a poker game. Handwritten on the tag, faded over the years, was the word ‘Kamei.’

That was the last name of Shannon’s great-grandmother, with whom she shared a special bond. She thought that it must be a coincidence, but something inside her had a deep realization that it wasn’t.

She said that she had a sense of “knowing” and she could picture her grandmother wearing a very similar floral frock.

After scouring through her family’s old photo albums, she was a little disappointed when she didn’t find a single picture of her grandmother wearing a similar frock. However, a few nights later she opened her phone to see a text from her mother.

She couldn’t believe her eyes as she opened the photo to see her great-grandmother wearing the exact same pink and purple muumuu, standing in front of a sea of beautifully blooming Hawaiian flowers.

Shannon also realized that the photo of her great-grandmother was taken right in front of the same church where her ashes were placed when she passed away.

Not only did this inspire Shannon to visit her grandmother, but she also re-created the photo by posing in the same spot, wearing the same dress as her great-grandmother did so many years ago.

Shannon says that this muumuu has now become a family heirloom that she will pass down to her daughter as a family treasure.

Do you believe in fate? Have you ever had some kind of small miracle that made you almost believe you had a guardian angel guiding you to the exact place you were at that moment? Pass this story along, and if you'd like, you can tell us your own.
