Woman Kicks Her Sister Out Of Her Wedding Shortly After Her Young Son Starts Fussing During Vows

Weddings are a time full of happiness, love and enjoyment, especially for the couple of the day. One unnamed woman got married on May 15, 2021, in a tiny ceremony with only her closest friends and family by her side, as well as her partner’s friends and family. They had one very specific rule for their big day: no kids allowed.

While most people enjoy having their family at their nuptials, sometimes people opt for more sophisticated settings, or they want to have more freedom to say and do what they want without worrying about influencing children. As it is the happy couple’s special day, they are allowed to ask their guests whatever they want and set the terms to best carry out their ideal wedding.

Sometimes women can be accused of becoming bridezillas during the planning of their wedding and on the wedding day itself, as they become extremely controlling and demanding with their desires. This is all done in order to make their fairytale day as perfect as possible.

One bride had an issue at her wedding and went to Reddit just four days after it happened to talk about her situation and receive feedback from the community. Even though all of her guests were on board with the “no kids allowed” concept, her own sister went against her rules when an unpredictable circumstance arose. The woman was forced to break her own rules and allowed her sister’s children to attend the wedding, but it didn’t go as planned, resulting in the sister being kicked out of the reception.

In her Reddit post, the married woman went into more detail about her intimate ceremony and how her special day went. There were only 70 people in attendance, and the guest list was only full of adults. “I opted for a childfree wedding due to both costs and convenience,” she wrote. “I like kids, just not at my wedding.” Most people adjusted well to the rule, as the wedding date was announced a year in advance, giving parents plenty of time to find accommodations for their children.

“The problem is my sister who was one of four bridesmaids,” the woman wrote. Her sister has two sons, aged 2 and 5. Just two days before the wedding, her sister revealed that hiring a babysitter was no longer an option, which prompted her to ask the bride if her children would be allowed at the wedding. “I felt pressured, but she begged for them to come,” the woman wrote. So, she agreed with the provision that the boys would behave and that her sister’s husband would pay close attention to them.

Unfortunately, this task was easier said than done. First, the sister arrived late to the venue, making her miss out on most of the pre-wedding photographs. Then, one of the sons “began to act up during the vows,” according to the Reddit user. “My husband and I wrote our own, and about halfway through mine he begins to cry and fuss,” the woman further explained. “I had to restart my vows twice due to the disruption, and I was already so nervous.” Luckily, the rest of the ceremony continued pretty peacefully.

The sister, however, continued to hinder the wedding as she was nowhere to be found once the ceremony wrapped up. More photographs were delayed as the wedding party had to wait for the sister to return since she was a vital member as one of the bridesmaids. The pictures were finally taken once she came back, and the newly married couple had their first dance.

Laughing the situation off, the sister apologized to the newlywed and explained that it was her son’s nap time, which was why he was so restless during the ceremony. “It was such a non-apology and I was so upset,” the married woman wrote in her Reddit post. “I told her I didn’t like how dismissive she was of my wedding and how I broke my own rule to accommodate her family and she didn’t seem to care.”

While it seemed like they were finally communicating and getting back on better terms, the sister had her own issues with the ongoing scenario and said the other woman was “blowing things out of proportion.” This became the wife’s breaking point, and she asked her sister to leave. “I didn’t want her there anymore,” she reasoned.

In the conclusion of the Reddit post, the woman explained how she and her sister have still not talked since the wedding day, and although a lot of her friends believe she handled the situation correctly, many of her family members think otherwise. “My family seems to think I’m a bridezilla,” she wrote. She clarified that she wasn’t angry at her nephew; rather, she was angrier at herself for bending on her rules and her sister for not giving a real apology.
