Woman Keeps Teenage Promise To Make 101-Year-Old Great-Grandmother Her Maid Of Honor

As a 13-year-old teenager dreaming of her wedding, Erin Radmann asked her best friend, her great-grandmother Rose Hubred, to be her Maid of Honor. Though she was still a child and had yet to meet her future husband, she was already certain that she wanted this special woman in her life to be part of a very important day.

For many grandchildren, grandmothers are such a beacon and a guiding light. Their years of experience in life make them a great source of wisdom and advice. According to the experts, grandmothers enjoy a unique bond with their grandkids because their brains are wired for emotional empathy. Grandmothers also feel less pressure, especially on the financial aspect, about bonding with their grandchildren compared to raising their own kids. So, they enjoy the grandmother experience more than being a mom.

It goes without saying that Radmann shared such a bond with her beloved grandmother and often posted photos of her on social media, especially during the old woman's milestone birthdays. So, when Radmann got engaged to a wonderful man in January 2021, she never forgot what she asked Hubred when she was a young teen.

As she was planning her wedding for May 2022, Radmann also wanted an elaborate way to ask Hubred to be her Maid of Honor again. She took a video of the moment her grandmother was unwrapping her gift. It was a necklace Radmann wanted her grandmother to wear at her wedding and it had a special question in the box. The video, uploaded on February 2022, went viral.

Hubred had such a raw reaction when she opened her granddaughter's gift and read the question about becoming her Maid of Honor. She realized Radmann had not given up on her and followed through on her intention to make her a part of her wedding.

In a follow-up video uploaded to TikTok in March 2022, Radmann explained that her grandmother might have thought that she changed her mind or forgotten her promise so she exclaimed, "You never gave up on me!" when she saw the gift. Radmann also said that, in her eyes, she really thought at 13 years old that Hubred would live forever.

However, in October 2021, Hubred sadly passed away just days after she turned 102 years old. Radmann also posted on Instagram about her death, months before the video went viral. The granddaughter also explained that she uploaded the video belatedly as a tribute to her Maid of Honor in heaven.

In another Instagram post, Radmann uploaded a photo of her grandmother as she turned 103 years old for her very first birthday in heaven.

"Not a day goes by where I don’t think about you and miss you terribly," Radmann wrote. "Today, I will not cry or be sad. Instead, I’ll celebrate you and all of our incredible memories together."

Meanwhile, Radmann and her husband settled into their new house in Minnesota with their Dalmatian. Once in a while, she still shares clips and memories about how much she misses her grandmother. Sometimes, the mere mention of her "Rose" brings tears to her eyes.
