Woman Is Found Drifting Alive In The Sea Two Years After Losing Contact With Her Family

Late last month, two fishermen found a woman floating adrift in the sea, two kilometers from the beaches of Puerto Colombia, Colombia. The woman was identified as a person who was reported missing two years ago.

On September 27, 2020, a Colombian man by the name of Rolando Visbal Lux together with a fellow fisherman came across a woman floating at sea. In the video, Lux is heard calling the woman in the water. She is fully clothed and holding on to a life preserver. She appears to be unconscious at first and then starts groaning as the men in the boat pull her onboard.
The Denver Channel writes that the woman was brought to shore and brought to the hospital where she received medical attention. The woman was later identified as a missing person from two years ago.

Lux's video of the bizarre incident on Facebook has since been viewed more than 400,000 times. The Denver Channel continues that the woman shared her story with RCN Radio, citing 20 years of domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of her partner. According to her, after a particularly violent attack in 2018, she ran away. She was unable to receive help at a homeless shelter and had fallen into severe depression.
According to Independent, her family disagrees with her statements and instead says that she had left unannounced while suffering from mental health issues.
The Daily Mail says that local media reports the woman’s daughters are trying to move her to their home in the Colombian capital of Bogotá.
According to a study, Colombia is one of the countries in the region where violence against women is highly prevalent.
In 2010, UN Women reported that 37% of Colombian women said that they have experienced physical or sexual spousal abuse over their lifetime, as well as several physical and psychological consequences associated with it while over 50% of Colombian men admitted to abusing their female partners.
