Woman In Her ’70s Ditches Long Hair To Look 40 Years Old

Some women prefer to wear their hair longer, believing that it contributes to their physical attractiveness. But not Sarah Chisolm, a Boston native in her ’70s, who has been wanting a good makeover for her long but thinning locks.

In a YouTube video from 2019, Chisolm explained that she was starting to feel tired of her long hair. Though she was 73 at that time, the Boston woman said she actually felt 40 years old inside, yet she didn’t have the right look to reflect her inner energy.

So, Chisolm was up for any transformation and was even willing to go shorter or dye her hair blue, green or yellow if that would give her the “oomph” she needed to revitalize her looks. She was definitely ready for a change because she was starting to hate her hair.

According to hair experts, short hair works a lot better on older women because it’s easier to maintain and keep healthy. Hair also ages and will appear drier because the hair follicle is no longer producing enough sebaceous glands. Thus, aging hair in aging women can turn brittle and can be prone to a frizzy and wiry texture. The dullness may even look more obvious when the woman keeps her hair longer.

The drawback to short hair, however, is that it has to be cut regularly. The upkeep may discourage some older women from getting a haircut as often as possible. However, short haircuts are quite easy to work with and style, especially if the cut accentuates the woman’s facial features and the shape of her face.

For her dazzling makeover, Chisolm turned to the Makeover Guy, Christopher Hopkins, who has worked with a lot of middle-aged and senior women. Hopkins has a hair studio in Minneapolis and St. Paul and creates content for his popular YouTube channel, which has over 551,000 subscribers.

Chisolm calls Hopkins the “Magic Man” who has also published a book for women over 45 years old. The book, “Staging Your Comeback, A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45,” reveals tips on how to grow old gracefully. It remains on the top-selling list for beauty, grooming and style even after several years of its first publication in 2017.

The Makeover Guy gave Chisolm a bouncy, volumizing haircut above the neck that aligns with how she feels. Sporting a young and vibrant look with her wispy bangs, Chisolm said she felt really terrific about her hairstyle and was confident enough to say she’d be hitting up some guys if she goes dancing. She also loved her visit to Hopkins’ studio.

“It’s just nice, not like a regular hair salon at home where there are noise and a hairdryer. I’m feeling good.”

Viewers who saw her transformation also loved what Hopkins did to her dull hair.

“Yes perfect...her high hairline deserved some bangs...she looks stunning.”

“This doesn’t even look like the same woman! I love the hairstyle, and her makeup gives her a more youthful appearance.”

“Wow! What a difference, she looks like she feels now, a younger energetic woman.”

“Love her energy. Now happy with herself and ready for a guy and dancing. Now that truly is a lift. Thank you MAKEOVERGUY.”
