Joan from Peoria, Illinois, has felt like she has blended into the background as she has gotten older. At 54 years old, she is fed up with feeling like a wallflower and decided to take some "me" time and get herself a makeover from the best guy in the business: The Makeover Guy.

Joan was curious to see how she could look better. Many people go through the same feelings as they get comfortable with their traditional looks, clothing, and hairstyles. They forget to try out new things and forget that looking better can often mean feeling better.

She confessed: "As you age, you start feeling invisible... I want to feel like I have some value." It's important to remember that getting older only increases self-worth as you've lived, experienced, and gone through more. Growing older should be celebrated!

Christopher Hopkins, the man behind The Makeover Guy, first started off by handing her a huge cocktail. You could tell the makeover was going to be something to celebrate, just by that gesture!

Joan travels abroad to many different countries for her job, so she would love to be able to look her best when she travels, and have an air of confidence when she meets new people. The Makeover Guy took this into consideration when thinking up her new style.

Joan got very emotional when she saw the outcome of her makeover. Her hair has been cut into a sleek, short style and highlighted a vibrant blonde color. She has subtle makeup enhancing her natural eye color, and a lilac-tone lipstick to match her clothes and accessories.

Trying hard to hold back the tears she said: "I feel pretty." That's a statement so many of us find hard to say. She continued, saying, "I think I felt pretty on the inside, but not always on the outside." She expressed how grateful she was for this experience. Her final words of advice were that her makeover was well worth it, and she urges everyone to do the same if they need a little pick-me-up!
