Woman Goes To Wedding To Be Sister's Bridesmaid 5 Hours After Giving Birth To Son

One of the most significant moments in a woman's life is getting married. Another is giving birth to her first child. Incredibly, those two moments collided when Katie Chell arranged to get married on June 9, 2018, and Brody, her soon-to-be nephew, decided that he wanted to crash the party, being born three weeks early – just in time for him to make the wedding. Of course, it took some doing for that to happen.

Emily Chell had been so excited to be her sister's bridesmaid at that wedding. She knew that she'd be eight months pregnant at the time but was thrilled that her soon-to-be soon son would get to experience the ceremony. It would be while he was inside her, but that didn't matter. He'd still be there. However, suddenly, circumstances caused all of those plans to be thrown out the window.

At about 10 p.m. the previous evening, she had her mother drive her home so that she could spend some time with her neighbor, who was a midwife, reports the Daily Mail. Within a couple of hours, 27-year-old Emily was told that she needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible. It appeared that Brody was ready to enter the world.

As she was rushed to Royal Stoke University Hospital in Hartshill, England, so many thoughts went through her mind. One was excitement at what was about to happen. Another was this sense of determination to make her sister's wedding. This was one of the biggest days in the life of someone who was so close to her, and, if it was possible, she would be there for it, she told the Daily Mail.

Several hours later, at 7:10 a.m., she gave birth to Brody without any complications. After she took a few hours to recover, Emily set her new plan into motion. At 11:15 a.m. that morning, she had someone drive her and Brody to the wedding venue 13 miles away. She also arranged to have her bridesmaid dress brought there, and the service was held up for a few minutes as she arrived about 10 minutes late.

It was all so worth it. Emily and Brody walked down the aisle, and, as she later said, "everyone cheered when we walked in. It was a lovely moment." Meanwhile, 28-year-old Katie was so overwhelmed herself, having gotten married and become an aunt all in the same day. "We'll now always share our anniversary with Brody," she told the Daily Mail.
