Woman Forbids Ex From Being In Delivery Room After Learning He Cheated On Her When She Was Pregnant

Giving birth is not a process for the faint of heart. Not only does a birthing mother have to spend possibly long hours in labor, but she also has to endure excruciating pain coupled with the stress of having the life of her child in her hands. For that reason, it's best to ensure anyone going through delivery is as comfortable as can be.
For some, this means having one person by their side playing the role of cheerleader and comforter in the delivery room. Many married couples tend to have their partner with them, not just for support, but also so they can partake in the beautiful moment and bear witness to one of life’s true miracles.
However, one woman has come out to share her reason for why she doesn't want her soon-to-be ex-husband in the room with her when she gives birth, leaving some to brand her “wicked” and “evil.”
She took to Reddit on Nov. 8, 2022, to recount her predicament that was years in the making. She said she and her husband had been trying for three years to get pregnant when finally, she discovered that she was. Like anyone keen to become a parent, she happily told her husband the good news. However, she was met with a response no expectant mom would ever want to hear. Her husband, prompted perhaps by the gravity of the consequences, broke down and confessed to her that he had been carrying on an affair with a colleague at work.
Devastated by the betrayal, the woman decided it was the end of the road for their marriage and separated from him. With the baby due in December 2022, the woman also decided what was best for her was not to have the soon-to-be dad in the delivery room with her.

In the post, the woman explained the situation she that had left her feeling like people thought she was “evil.”
“I don’t want my ex husband in the delivery room. I thought it went without saying but now people act like I’m the devil. Well soon to be ex. We are separated and I'm waiting for the divorce to be finalized. He cheated on me with someone he works with. We have been trying for a baby for 3 years and when I told him that I was finally pregnant he broke down and confessed. I asked for divorce and he moved out,” she wrote.
She said at first, he had moved in with his mother but was now living with the colleague with whom he had the affair. The woman went on to explain why she did not want him in the room when she delivers their baby.
“I'm due in December. I don't want him to be in the delivery room with me. I'm not punishing him but he isn't my partner anymore,” she wrote, adding she would not feel comfortable during the birth if he was there.
“I don't want him seeing my body. When we break up with people we don't usually think it's okay to show our bodies to them isn't that right? I just can't have him with me,” she continued. He reacted badly to her decision, leaving the woman to question herself.
“He is beside himself with grief and everybody thinks I'm so wicked and evil now. How could I be so wrong about how to feel about my own body?”
Despite the people in her life making her feel like she was doing something wrong, the Reddit community had nothing but sympathy for her.

Many who read the post commented that the woman was right to prioritize herself during what would be a very stressful period.
“He lost the right to be involved in his child’s birth when he broke your trust and your heart. Giving birth is one of the most vulnerable things a woman can do physically, and I wouldn’t want to expose myself or my newborn to someone I don’t trust. That would feel so invasive and would ruin the birthing experience for me. … do what feels right and safe for you, you’re the one giving birth and should be the one to decide who’s in the room with you. He deprived himself of that when he completely broke your trust. It sucks, but he needs to reap what he’s sown,” one reader wrote.
“You will be under enough stress when your miracle comes. No need for him,” another comment read.
“Birth is not a form of entertainment and being witness is a privilege. While it’s special and amazing, no one will ever be forced to have someone they’re uncomfortable around be there during their most vulnerable moment,” a third commenter wrote.
“Do not worry what anyone else says. He cheated on you while pregnant. In what universe does he have the right to be the upset party here?” read another comment.
With the backing of the community, the woman edited her post to express her heartfelt thanks, as well as to say she had found romance with a new partner, whom she planned to move in with after the birth. As for who will be in the room with her? “MIL is the only one supporting me. Probably she is the one I'm having with me.”
