This woman from Virginia Beach wants to let you know about an additional danger resulting from using a tampon. According to KVAL, she recently had a traumatic experience when she found a plastic hook inside her cotton tampon. Harmony Grant said that the hook looked like a tiny black dot. She tried to dislodge it with her fingernail. It turned out that the dot was a sharp hook.

Harmony, a 22-year-old woman, told reporters she was shocked when she realized that the black spot was a sizable hook protruding from the tampon. She knew that most of her acquaintances and female relatives wore tampons.

Accordingly, she used social media to write a post warning everyone to proceed with caution before inserting their tampons.

Harmony mentioned that she had recently stopped using tampons made with artificial dyes but emphasized the fact that she will no longer use any tampons. She issued a dire warning to her female scial media followers that they should think twice before inserting objects inside their bodies. Harmony also told the manufacturer about the hook.

A customer service representative at Edgewell Personal Care apologized to Harmony and offered a $7 refund. But she thinks the company should have reacted in a way that demonstrated a deeper concern about the potentially harmful situation.

She told a 13NewsNow television journalist that the representative did not seem concerned that the tampon could have caused a serious injury.

"I just want other women to know things like this are happening."

An Edgewell Personal Care representative told a reporter that the company has not yet received all of the required information regarding the complaint. In addition, the representative wants consumers to know that the hook is a rare occurrence bearing no resemblance to other tampons manufactured under the Playtex brand name.

According to KVAL, spokesperson for Edgewell Personal Care made a statement about the ordeal saying:

"Once we receive the necessary information we will be able to fully evaluate all details of this report. In the meantime, this one isolated case does not affect other Playtex tampon products, which remain safe to use. The health and safety of the women who use our products is a top priority for Edgewell Personal Care."

Harmony's unsettling experience happened within two months of a Kotex recall regarding tampons falling into shreds. The shredded pieces were causing women to have vaginal infections. Some women were even injured because of the defective tampons.
