According to WSFA, Carly's boyfriend got down on one knee as they walked along Myrtle Beach. Understandably, Carly wanted to share the good news with her friends and family, but due to the coronavirus it wasn't possible to tell them in person so she had to use different means.
She really wanted to share the news with her grandfather who is an important person in her life. He resides in the Premier Living and Rehab Center care home and has dementia. Due to the strict restrictions on visiting the elderly during the outbreak she knew this would be impossible.

When Carly spoke to staff at the care home, they came up with a solution. They didn't want either of them to miss out on sharing this special moment together. The alternative was for Carly to stand outside her grandad's window, so she could communicate with him from outside.

Carly told WSFA, "I really wanted to be able to tell my grandfather because he has dementia and there’s no phone in there that he has access to. I got really emotional and really sad and I just put my hand on the window, and he put his there too. I just told him I love him, and he said ‘I love you too and I hope to see you soon.’" This will be a moment Carly will never forget, and we don't doubt that her grandfather is looking forward to being at her wedding next year!
