Having compassion for other animals is a gift that not many possess. Some people would never help a stray dog. While some individuals have genuine fear of the issues that a stray dog may bring along, such as disease, others just don't have it in them to help.

However, this is not that case for one marathon runner, Khemjira Klongsanun. Her desire to help the stray dog when all the other runners passed by without helping is an act of kindness that many didn't expect especially during an important race.

What Really Happened

Khemjira was one of the runners during the 26-mile Chombueng marathon that took place in the western part of Thailand. Everything started off well until 7 miles into the race reports The Daily Mail While running, Khemjira saw a small puppy that was trembling on the other side of the road.

It was a Thai wolf dog otherwise known as Bangkaew. The little dog was frightened and all the other runners were avoiding the poor thing. However, Khemjira couldn't leave him there alone. She felt sorry for the poor puppy and decided to do something about it.

Slowly, she approached the dog and kneeled down facing him. By so doing, her race temporarily stopped. The race took place in an area with no homes or neighbors close by. It was very clear to her that it was either a stray or an abandoned dog.

Due to the scorching heat in the area, Khemjira knew that the little puppy wouldn't survive. Although this was an important race to her because of the hours she spent training, she could not leave him behind.

Ultimately, her compassion showed when Khemjira picked him up, and using her towel, she shielded the puppy from the scorching heat. She did not quit the race. Khemjira ran the remaining 19 miles with the puppy underneath her arm. She reached the finish line while holding the puppy in her arms.

After the race, she went home with him and tried to find the owner.

However, nobody came to claim him. The good news is that Khemjira decided to adopt the little dog naming him Chombueng. This is the name of the race she was a part of and during which she helped save the dog's life. This is an amazing act of kindness.
