While you're traveling, you might see someone walking on the side of the road trying to find a ride to another area. One woman had an encounter with someone while she was walking that turned out to be a rather frightening experience.

Nancy Abell lives in Washington State. She is a mother and enjoys taking hikes with her family. She also enjoys walking alone sometimes so that she can clear her head and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

While on her walks, Nancy is sure to take a few supplies that she might need and dresses for the weather conditions of the day.

When Nancy was on one of her hikes, she met a woman named Katharina Groene. This woman had started hiking at the Mexican border and was walking along the Pacific Crest Trail.

The woman clearly had a German accent and was dressed for a rather lengthy excursion. She started walking because she no longer found any faith in the way that humans live.

If you know anything about geography, then you know that the Pacific Crest Trail is over 2,000 miles long. Katharina only had about 100 miles to go before she was at the end. Nancy was worried about the woman because the final miles would be near the border of Canada where it was much colder.

Katharina didn't have a heavy coat or any other clothes that would keep her warm.

Nancy kept track of the weather in the area and soon contacted local police officers to try to get someone to check on the young girl. If it weren't for the call that Nancy made, then Katharina might not be here today.

What did you think about Nancy's instinct to save Katharina? Would you do the same? Let us know in the comments - and don't forget to share this story! You might just restore somebody else's faith in humanity.
