Beachgoers were pretty disgusted when they spotted a woman trying to get rid of her child’s dirty diaper by burying it in the sand in the Philippines. The incident happened just recently at Boracay Beach.

The woman was caught on camera attempting to bury the dirty diaper in the sand. Nearby, another lady was cleaning off the child in the water of the ocean. When the incident was reported to officials, they decided to close that section of the beach. As Express reports, the beach was closed on Wednesday, August 14th and stayed closed for the next 72 hours in order to clean up.

Visitors were also not allowed to swim during this time due to the human feces in the water.

A witness watched and filmed the entire incident. According to Express, they spoke to a local media outlet in the Filipinos known as ABS-CBN about what they had seen. The lady, who identified herself as Grace, stated that many of them were shocked at what they saw. Not knowing what to do, they shouted “Yuck!” at the women to get their attention.

Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, the tourism secretary in the area, also told ABS-CBN that authorities were searching for the tourists who are responsible for having the beach closed down.

This isn’t the first time that Boracay Beach has been closed down. According to Express, there was so much sewage on the beach in 2018 that officials spent at least $15 million cleaning it up. The beach was finally re-opened to the public last year when October rolled around.

Since then, there have been very strict rules and regulations set in place so that this type of damage does not occur again. For example, beachgoers are no longer allowed to drink alcohol or smoke on the beach. You are also no longer allowed to bring food to the beach while you are there.

Even some water sports, such as boating and water skiing, have been suspended. No souvenir shops, fire dancing, or casinos are permitted on the beach. Only 19,000 people are allowed to be on the island at one time, CNN reports. This beach also prohibits people from defecating or urinating in public. Officials are trying their hardest to keep the beach as clean as possible.
