Woman Asks Bartender To Send ‘Anonymous’ Drinks While On Dates, Says Men Should Know She Has 'Options'

When it comes to dating, you never really know what to expect. Meeting someone new is exciting, but it can also be stressful and even scary at times. While many people typically worry about what to wear and what to say on a first date, one TikTok user recently shared her own concerns. In order to make sure that she was seeking out the right kind of man, the TikTok user decided to use a tactic to see if they were jealous and if they were willing to treat her the way she deserves.

Sofia Franklyn uploaded a TikTok on Jan. 12, 2022, explaining a trick she does on most of her dates that she claims is actually beneficial to her dating life. She typically gets up from her table at some point during the date under the pretense that she needs to use the restroom. However, she actually sneaks off to the bar and orders herself a drink to be sent to her table under the guise that it’s actually from another anonymous suitor somewhere else in the restaurant.

While some people have criticized Franklyn’s actions and called her behavior insecure and toxic, she says that it’s actually a great way to remind men that they have some healthy competition and that they need to put in the work for their dates in order to get a second date. Other people have since left comments on Franklyn’s TikTok, commending her for her actions and pointing out just how useful and effective this maneuver could be.

On Jan. 12, 2022, Franklyn uploaded a TikTok describing something she typically does on a first date. The text overlaying in the video read: “When I ‘go to the bathroom’ and pay the bartender to send me an ‘anonymous’ shot so my date remembers I have options.” In the caption, Franklyn wrote, “Men love some healthy competition.”

According to Yahoo News, Franklyn will also send herself other items at times, including a bouquet of flowers. The TikTok has since been viewed over 3.5 million times and has raked in plenty of comments, some commending Franklyn’s actions and others criticizing them. Not everyone was on board with Franklyn’s hack, and many pointed out some of its flaws. One person asked, “Why is this not considered toxic???” Another called the move “a bit insecure.”

However, many people seemed to really like Franklyn’s idea. One TikTok user pointed out how this can be a great way to tell if someone gets jealous easily. The user commented, “That’s a good idea to test red flags and to see if he’s possessive early.” Another user added, “Oh but wait a minute that’s really smart.” 

More users seemed to agree, with another saying, “This is genius.” Another TikTok user even said that they were going to try out Franklyn’s tip on their next date, according to Yahoo News. It seems like the move has worked for others beside this TikTok star, and one user recounted their own similar experience as she received a drink from an anonymous person while on a date. “OK but this actually happened to me ONCE and it was THE BEST feeling ever, my date was left shaking,” the user explained.
