Denise Nickerson, famously known for her role as Violet Beauregard in the 1971 film Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 62.

Last year Denise suffered a severe stroke that put the actress in poor health, according to her family, on Monday night, Denise took as many of her meds as she could before she was rushed to the hospital where she later passed away.

Denise starred in many movies and TV shows throughout the ’60s and ’70s, in addition to her Willy Wonka role, she starred in “Dark Shadows,” “The Electric Company” and even appeared on “The Brady Bunch.” Denise’s son and daughter-in-law Joshua and Jasmine Nickerson set up a GoFundMe page where they explained Denise’s situation and how their life has been affected in the last year.

“We are Denise's only immediate family and caretakers. Last year, you may have heard that Denise suffered a severe stroke that caused extreme damage. It's been a long, hard year, and we have been with her and caring for her every day since then,” Joshua and Jasmine wrote.

The couple has had to care for Denise full-time so she did not have to live in a nursing home.

On the day Denise was rushed to the hospital, Jasmine and Joshua had only left the house for “7 minutes” before returning and finding that “Denise got into her medicines and took as much as she could. Josh stopped her and rushed her to the ER.

At some point during this event, she aspirated and caught pneumonia.” While at the hospital the actress suffered a massive seizure and then was put on life support before her condition worsened, she was taken off the machines when she tragically passed away.

The family started the GoFundme explaining that they cannot afford to pay for Denise’s funeral expenses. “Although she had the fame and notoriety, there is no inheritance. No life insurance” The couple said adding “Just our income which isn't even enough. And Denise's wish is to be cremated and her ashes made into a piece of glass art.” Fortunately, the couple has raised nearly $2,000 more than their original $10,000 goal.

We are so saddened to hear about the death of Denise Nickerson, our hearts go out to her family during this time. RIP Denis.
