There may be no other creature on earth as beautiful and majestic as the wild horse. With hoofs beating and manes whipping in the breeze, they're a symbol of unbridled freedom. In some areas, these incredible creatures are allowed to freely roam and graze. However, not all wild horses are so fortunate. Ranchers often resent the presence of the wild horses grazing on public lands where they want to keep their livestock. As a result, many are rounded up and auctioned off each year by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Some end up in less than ideal conditions. That's where Skydog Ranch comes into the picture.

This 9,000-acre sanctuary in Oregon is owned by wild horse enthusiast Clare Staples. She adopted Goliath, a huge, stunning, coal-black, curly-haired 26-year-old wild stallion. He was plucked from his herd in Wyoming while courageously trying to protect them from being rounded up as helicopters closed in around them.

Clare's goal was to bring Goliath back together with his family, but she ran into a whole host of roadblocks.

Clare raised money that was donated by many caring individuals in order to purchase Goliath at an auction. She found out that Red Lady, a mare from Goliath's herd who was of special interest to the stallion, had been bought. After meeting, Clare and Red Lady's owner came up with a plan to bring them back together again.

The reunion of these two wild horses is an incredible and touching sight to behold. Only after the couple came together did the two owners find out their extra special secret. Sky Dog Ranch said: 

“These two horses had been together in the wild for years but it was possible that they would not remember each other and be indifferent BUT when Goliath spotted Red Lady he ran the entire length of three football fields to reach her. It was the most incredible sight and if anybody every doubted the bonds these horses make they were gone after this reunion.”
