Wife Is Furious After Husband Cancels Her Job Interview Without Informing Her
Feb 08, 2022 by apost team
It’s no secret that marriage can be difficult at times. After all, married couples are together through the best and worst times of their lives. With the popularity of social media, we’re used to seeing other people’s joyous posts that often celebrate their best moments.
But when someone needs advice about a situation that they don’t feel comfortable sharing on their personal social media, they often turn to the same place—Reddit. The platform’s format allows people to post anonymously about anything they want, and users can join groups that align with their interests. One subreddit called “AITA” allows users to write about scenarios in their lives and garner advice from other users about if they are in the wrong.
This is exactly what one Reddit user decided to do when she faced a difficult situation with her husband. In February 2022, her post went viral. In the post, she shared that her husband had canceled a job interview that she had scheduled after being unemployed since 2019.
Like many others, the anonymous user had struggled to find unemployment. While her unemployment began before the pandemic, she found herself in the same situation as millions of others in 2020 and beyond. In fact, the UN's International Labour Organization(ILO) found that a full 8.8 per cent of global working hours were lost in 2020. That number equates to 225 million full-time jobs lost in total.
Given the difficulty that OP had in her job search, she was excited when she finally scheduled an interview for a job. Days before the interview, she was notified that the interview had been canceled, and she had no idea why. When her husband came home, he admitted that he had been the one to cancel it.

OP wrote in her post that she had been unable to work due to her physical disabilities. When she left her job in 2019, she and her husband agreed that it was best for her to stay home. When she was employed, she said that they split chores and house duties equally. After she became unemployed, all the household responsibilities fell on her, despite her physical discomfort.
When she told her husband that she didn’t think this was fair, he made a deal with her—if she could find a job, they could split the household chores evenly. She looked for employment for months, but because of her physical limitations, it was difficult to find a job willing to hire her. When she finally scheduled an interview for a role that allowed her to work from home, she was elated. When she excitedly told her husband, she wrote that he “looked red in the face but said nothing.”
She asked her husband why he canceled the interview. He said that the job seemed too difficult for her, and he wanted to spare her the heartache of being rejected and was concerned about her wellbeing.
OP didn’t buy it. She responded by telling him that she didn’t think that was the reason at all. In fact, she thought he only canceled the interview because he didn’t want to split the household chores.
An argument ensued, and her husband called her unreasonable and selfish for considering this job without talking to him beforehand. OP responded that she doesn’t involve herself in his work life. The argument ended when her husband walked out, calling her “horrible” for accusing him of having ill intent.

While the content of the argument alone is concerning for readers, the additional context OP gave in her post raised even more red flags and questions. At the beginning of the post, OP wrote that she was posting from a new account because “he [the husband] deleted my main.”
This likely occurred after the argument when her husband deleted all of her social media accounts. OP wrote that her husband did this after stating that the apps were bad for her mental health.
When her husband left their home after the argument, one of his friends reached out to her to tell her that she was being cruel to her husband and that he was just trying to look out for her. The post ends with the question, “AITA for yelling at him?”
The replies on the posts under this subreddit are normally varied. On OP’s post, however, the users who replied all seem to come to the same conclusion—OP is not in the wrong. Hundreds of users have replied to the post to tell OP to leave her husband, stating that his actions are controlling and manipulative.
The top comment stated, "'new account because he deleted my main.' I just had to read this one line and knew this was not going to be you in the wrong. This man has extreme control issues! RUN! He should be lifting you up and encouraging your growth and happiness. Not beating you down when you try to do something that makes you happy. I hope you realize you deserve so much better."
