It’s always uplifting to hear of someone doing something positive for someone else. It seems that we are flooded with a tirade of negative news these days, leaving it hard to see the positive. An incredible recent story showcased the wonderful amount of good that is still in the world.

The story starts in tragedy. It reminds us that we never know when something bad is coming, so we should treasure the hugs, kind words and positive actions right now. Ream and Dakota Nelson were simply cleaning their home’s garage one afternoon when tragedy struck the couple.

Dakota had left his wife alone in the garage to put something inside the house. When he returned, he found his wife on the floor. Ream had suffered a massive heart attack at a very young age.

Their daughter called 911 and Dakota began performing CPR on his wife immediately. However, by the time the ambulance arrived it was too late for Ream. Her brain was bleeding and had been without oxygen for about 20 minutes.

She was put on life support, but there was no way to save her brain. Much to the devastation of Dakota and the couple’s 7 children, Ream died on September 23rd, 2018.

Ream was in good health and was only 38 at the time.

Dakota says that it is still hard for him to put into words what it was life to find his wife on that garage floor.

The two were married for 17 years and Dakota still misses his beautiful wife every day.

Dakota was left to pick up the pieces, as he would now be raising 7 children on his own. Ream’s sister, Summer Alameel, decided to launch a GoFundMe page for the family, thinking that any little bit couple help.

Alameel spoke to the fact that Ream was able to go peacefully, surrounded by family that cherished her.

She also noted that the community support that Dakota and the children received was a blessing, allowing the family to hold up well to the adversity they were facing.

It just so happened that the area’s regional newspaper, East Idaho News, received $250,000 from a Secret Santa to be doled out to local people in need. The donor of the $250,000 receives the stories and selects who will receive part of the donation.

East Idaho News then surprises the recipients.

It was a day that seemed particularly ordinary for the Dakota. However, when East Idaho News reporter, Nate Eaton, knocked on his door, the day become one he would remember forever.

The Reams had been blessed with $10,000 from the anonymous donor.
